Re: good TV series recomendations..... ?

"The Night Of" - I fast forwarded most of the 1st episode thinking here we go, same old, same old: girl gets murdered and he didn't do it, blah de blah.. then I spotted John Turturro as the scruffy failed lawyer and I started to watch it. I am now into the 4th episode and it's extremely good stuff.. reminds me a little of the wire: love the detail, the grit and the acting is great.

Worth sticking with it.

Just started watching Flowers. Dark, funny, and sad, at the same time.

As far as I'm concerned, Magnum P.I. is still the best series on tv. All that new stuff is unwatchable.

Are you kidding? Hart to Hart was far superior, "when they met it was moider". That or Murder She Wrote.

Re: good TV series recomendations..... ?

Not really sure if this belongs.

BBC2 "Arctic Live" It's a documentary. It shows a part of Canada that even most Canadians only know from TV, and the presentation is also different from the usual documentary style.

We're totally engrossed in BBC1's The Missing, series 2. Dark, complex and gripping.

Re: good TV series recomendations..... ?

We started watching Schitt's Creek. The plot writing isn't amazing and take's a couple episodes to get into, but some of the characters are really well written and hilarious actors pulling them off.
Good watch for those who like character driven comedy!

I watched all 5

If you liked Lost go for it (JJ Abrams involved)
They say that whole 5 seasons are planned and the first season costs 100 million $

OH has been, but says it's too slow. He can't see it lasting past the first season despite the production cost and hype of being the new Game of Thrones.

Yes, it is slow, but that wouldn't necessarily put me off. Anthony Hopkins plays a strange character - can't figure out if he is the good guy or the evil one.

Will stick with it for now.

I've not been following it at all, but was watching last night with the family who have been. My daughter had to keep pausing it to explain what the hell was going on and whether we were in flashback mode or not. Still confused.

Re: good TV series recomendations..... ?

The Young Pope is worth catching. I saw the first episode and found it impressive: it has a rich stillness to it and yet it's wonderfully quirky, edgy.
And because Jude Law was such a pretty boy for so long, you forget that he is a bloody good actor. He pitches his character perfectly.. Diane Keaton of course is great, isn't she always? And many of the cardinals are just brilliantly funny.. yep, definitely worth watching, if you haven't seen it yet.
