Since July 2011, some colleagues and I have created a business of Internet services with phone support. But now we have some clients out of Switzerland and we have thought to use a VOIP provider.
After searching, we have found Switzernet, who offers free calls to the countries where we have clients and, for the moment, phones are cheaper.
Before asking for some lines, we want to know your opinion. Also, we want to know if the GXP1400 phone works fine.
If you are considering signing up with Switzernet, I ( or any other EF member ) would be pleased to provide a referral. I have been using them since 2007.
Telio (telio.ch) are doing free calls to 44 countries and cheap calls to most other countries, but have a 25CHF per month contract. For that you get everything you would normally get from a telephone provider - emergency calls, voicemail, conf calling etc.

And works it fine?
We want to know it before the end of the 50% discount of devices.
A friend recently got it from them, using a Cablecom line FP 25 plan.
He tested it with calling out to free destinations ( US and CAN mobiles as well as landlines ) as well as receiving calls ( from normal phones abroad ).
His Switzernet server was: sip36.youroute.net ( mine was a much lower number )
He liked it so much that he took up the offer and ordered another unit and had it sent to his folks abroad who had a decent ADSL connection, and after a week of testing and calling each other for free ( since essentially it is a CH to CH landline call ), I can safely say that they are quite pleased with the service provider and with the equipment ( the Grandstream ).
There is already a couple of threads on VOIP (try a search).
I am several people use Switzernet. I also use a couple of others, one in the UK and another one here (as Switzernet will NOT port your existing number, but netvoip do).
I have Switzernet also, but don't make much use of it, but still got a year left in the contract,
to be honest they could do a better job with the VOIP setup, with strange SIP server addresss and billing portal it becomes a fustration to track your usage.
I make use of Blueface.ie for most of my UK and Irish calls as it's far more superiour in terms of customer support (Free!) and features
But if anyone whats a Switzernet account, just ask

I've never been able to login to the Billing Portal, so for me this is pretty C**p
Not had any problems with the service so not sure about support.
I do like the netvoip service, probably the most advanced, but they don't offer something simular to the fixed monthly charge that Switzernet do. So I have the following setup:
Switzernet - Main number for making land line calls internationaly, plus US & Ca mobiles (costs 9chf per month)
netvoip - ported our old number to this (switzernet won't do this either), plus have one number as a dedicated fax (not that it has been used yet). Have set this up to be used for Swiss mobile calls (not paying for the service so I think they deserve some usage, otherwise it would be mainly just for incoming calls which don't cost anything, the charge is slightly higher for mobiles than Switzernet but pretty close tbh). On a single account, you can have upto 3 numbers and and upto 5 devices per number, so two of the numbers will ring at home and also on my phone when I enable it (tends to drain the battery), plus I could use these numbers from a computer and a couple more devices/systems i.e. if I had a second property, an office (where I could set this up)...... This for me is the future (or pretty close) where your number follows you where every you go.
voiptalk.org - UK number, used to have a monthly contract (that offered 1000? free minutes internationally to landlines, but now replaced by Switzernet), now stopped that and bought a 'national' number. This allows anyone in the UK to call us as local UK rates (and some providers don't charge for 'national numbers'). Number stays active as long as an incoming call is made at least once every three months.
I think they have not setup my account properly as I can't login and can't reset my password. Have sent them a message. At least I can top up my account and my VOIP system logs all the calls.
I'm Mike and I'm a newbie here, in this forum. I'm looking for a VoIP provider in Switzernland. What is your opinion about Switzernet? and do you have a good experience with them?
Please tell me if it really worth it because I don't want to waste my time and money...
Thanks for your answer,
Mike
PD: if someone else wants to give me his/her opinion here I am!!

Hello Mike, It works fine. The line was activated the same week and we received the phone 8 days after. We have done many calls and there is no problem. I think the quality of the calls could be better. Therefore, by 9 Sfr it's not bad. Then, I would advise it.
I believe Switzernet will not port your number and you cannot call emergency services or 08xx numbers, can't comment on the call quality or customer service.
I use www.telio.ch which is more expensive but has access to emergency services, 08xx numbers and you can ring customer services and speak english with them. Call quality is generally good and you can port your number.
Disclaimer:
I have been known to perform work for Telio on occassion (on the technical side), so for reasons of transparency make it clear here.

Correct Switzernet will NOT port your number.
So we have:
Switzernet - 9chf per month - one new number
Netviop - charge per call - two new numbers plus our ported number. Use one num as fax (not that we need a fax no.). All with multiple devices.
voiptalk.org - used to have a monthly contract, now bought a number for people in the UK to call us 'locally'. Free stays active as long as it's used regularly.
I have setup this all on our Fritzbox.
All Swiss mobile calls made are routed through Netvoip (have to give them something for the service).
All other calls are routed through Switzernet (which should be free).
I have a combination of cordless Siemens Gigaset (DECT) phones and wired phones.
I can also use the netvoip numbers on my Mobile phone or computer.... (upto 5 devices).
Can someone please post their referral number for Switzernet?
I make lots of calls to Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Norway and I want to profit from the new promotion they are making of free calls to Norway. For that, I only need one of you to send me (or post) your ref number. From my understanding you'll also get Norway as a free destination if you don't have it yet.
Also if someone knows any valid promotional code I'd be obliged.
For the promotional code part I've found one in one of their blogs (http://switzernetemportugal.blogspot.ch - in portuguese but you can translate it using the link on the right) valid until the end of the month. But I still need someone to PM me their referral number...
