| | | New low cost international calls
Morning guys..,
Just want to share something...
Yesterday, I received a message that there is a new low cost international call provider called "budgettarife" , www.budgettarife.ch
It says it'll cost 1.- rappen to call to Indonesia and other countries, without initial charge...
Tried it this morning, seems the Quality is good enough...
PS: not working or affiliate to them...
cheers,
Ollie

Wow! Great information. Thanks.
I have been using www.raptel.ch
The quality is only so-so. I can call within Switzerland for 4 rappen per minute.
Does anyone know of a better deal for calls within Switzerland?

Anyone know how to get free calls to UK land lines?

When you click on the roll down menu, choose `Schweiz`...the number that is given when you wish to call a landline is: 0840 744 744 and the cost is 4 rappen per minute. To dial a mobile, the number is 0900 22 33 09 and the cost is 20 rappen per minute. | Quote: | | | | | How do you call within switzerland?? Is the access number (0840...) a local number? Are you charged normal local rates or is it ones of those numbers that charges you 15Rp/minute?
Is there any way to check the tariff on a local number?

And for Swisscom the prices calculated in 10 rappen units.
(ref. http://www.swisscom-fixnet.ch/fx/pri...land/Index.htm)
So even though you are calling for 4 min, which should be only 4 rappen, Swisscom will charge you 10 rappen unit.
This is what I got when I check my bills online :

As I have written on similar threads, the surcharge of Swisscom to 0840 numbers is high. According to their website:
0840 / 0842 / 0844 / 0848max. 8.07 centime / min.
I've always wondered what the "max." means, but looking at the amount Ollie got on his bill suggests it can be lower than 8.07 Rp.
I cannot find anywhere what the "max." means, does it depend on which 0840 number, which subscription at Swisscom you have, time of day???
Therre would be the real price difference, not in whether you pay one provider 1 Rp per minute and another one 5 Rp. (if the first one results in a Swisscom surcharge of 8 Rp it can still be more expensive than the provider charging 5 Rp).

For mobile calls to the foreign countries i recommend www.rebtel.com been using it to call Holland on a daily base. Very good prices, registration is required.

Ollie | | | | | That's where my Cablecom "free landline phone calls" for 5CHF/month comes in handy.
Edit: just read 0840 numbers are not covered ... "In the case of free connections, calls to chargeable service and business numbers (e.g. 051x, 058x, 0869x, 0878x, 18xy, 084x, 090x) as well as internet dial-up numbers and access numbers for prepaid and calling card offers are excluded. Settlement takes place per second for chargeable connections. No minimal or connection charges apply to calls to 0800 toll-free numbers." But the charges that I pay for the calls through Budget Tarif have only according to the per minute rate for the specific country.
Quality is decent. Budget tariff sometimes have downtime, though if you combine it with helvatel or raptel, then the chances of all three going down together is kinda negligible. So you are covered there.

The max. you will be charged for calling one of those numbers is 8.07Rp, simple as that....
I use one those numbers to call Ireland and spend about 20 mins or so, three or four times a week talking to my family and friends, I just checked my most recent telephone bill and the total charge was CHF15.20 for 084X numbers, So it ends up about 6.00Rp per minute which is far less than the 30Rp - 50Rp charged by Swisscom. Hope that helps.

Anyone know how to get free calls to UK land lines? | | | | | I've been using nonoh.net for 2 years now. ofcourse you need to have net access. what it does is you give the source and destination numbers from their website, it connects both parties.
now calls to Switz landlines and UK landlines is free, so you can call to UK landlines(and a lott of other places like US landline+mobile, Germany ll, Australia ll etc. ) for free if you give source number as Switzerland landline. But you need to pay a Euro 10 credit which lasts 3 months , and free calls are limited to 300 minutes per week (per IP address)
Voice quality is tops.
p.s : if you sign up with a Non-EU mobile number , you dont have to pay the VAT rates.
