No! It is actually the miniIpad that comes out in september!

Just got back from MM with 2 of them, one for me, and one for my mother who's visiting at the moment. Pure chance that I was there and happened to notice the price. They doing it on a one unit one person basis.

I would have posted it here but couldn't get a reliable internet connection on my phone. However as I left there appeared to be only 5 left and there were more than 5 people behind me waiting for one, meaning the chances are that it would have been a wasted trip to Sihlcity for anybody here.

God knows what I'm going to do with mine though. That said, after all this time of being an iPad detractor, at 299 chufs I'm prepared to give it a go.

My colleague wanted to buy one yesterday. He called up 3 or 4 Interdiscount shops and they all said sold out.
Then he called up several Mediamarkt stations, all said sold out.
However the MM site shows some are available in St. Gallen.

Another colleague (lives in St Gallen) bought his iPAD last night at St.Gallen (must be < 19:00hrs), wihtout any reservations, he just went there and got one.

So, are the telephone answerers less than truthful? Are they just lazy to say "yes we have, may I have your details and take your order"????

Went to Sihlcity MM when it was green to get one there. Still said green on the website when I checked in store.

So I ordered one online a couple of hours later from MM. They cancelled the order last night.

Well I'm now using mine, but it really fails in one important area for me, and that's portability. To be able to take it with me I need a bag, and I hate carrying bags with me. With respect to having to carry a bag I'd be better off with an 11" MacBook Air, but I can't complain about the iPad given the price.

Don't get me wrong I think it's a good device and I'm using it right now in one of my favourite bars, but I can see myself buying a smaller version should apple ever release one. Something like this should really be able to fit in a large jacket pocket.

And another thing, why does the keyboard have to take up half the screen in landscape mode. It's just a waste of screen space. Not to mention they've changed the keyboard layout from my iPhone, and, it seems, I can't use a Swiss German layout if I want to type in English - damn you autocorrect.

Still, I can see why it's so in demand as a tablet computer. It is pretty cool.

Edit: Just had a call from my mum who's now back in England and she is absolutely loving hers. So, brownie points for me

They sell something called an iPhone, which is like a mini iPad but also comes with 3G *and* you can make calls with it. Plus it fits in a trouser pocket. It's all well and good buying something which fits in a "large jacket pocket" but that implies you only need connectivity in the Winter.

I can live with the iPhone for the 2 weeks a year where a jacket would be out of the question
