| | | New Swisscom mobile tariffs http://infinity.swisscom.ch/?lang=en
The 99 Fr subscription contains pretty much everything:
- 7.2mbit /s internet (tbh - I don't think I ever got anything faster on the Swisscom network anyway, even though it should be possible in some areas)
- unlimited texts + MMS
- unlimited voice
- 30 mins of talktime to the EU and the US
- 30 mins of talktime abroad (EU)
- 30 mb of data roaming abroad
- 30 sms abroad
not too shabby. It's still about 15 Fr. per month more expensive than a comparable subscription in the US and LTE can't be had for anything below 169 Fr. per month (although I supect there'll be an LTE option later on) - considering that LTE won't be rolled out nation-wide until 2015 anyway, the tariffs are ok for my taste.

I was looking at that one as well. My phone's long overdue for replacement and that 99CHF tarif would suit me down to the ground.

Interesting, I've never seen a operator throttle speeds based on subscription type before. | Quote: | | | | | not too shabby. Peter | | | | | Swisscom's HSPA+ network can't reach 100Mbps, and most HSPA+ phones can't handle those rates either. Swisscom is referring to LTE when they talk about that speed. http://www.swisscom.ch/en/ghq/media/...ologie_4G.html |

Anyway, these are theoretical values anyway. As UMTS building-penetration is rather low, most people browse the web on EDGE anyway for now - that'll change with the introduction of 800mhz-band services within the next 12 months or so - but until then, the .2mbit/s subscription probably isn't a bad choice for the larger part of the population.
I went with the 99 Fr. thing because I live on the border - that subscription includes data roaming.

| | | Swisscom Natel Infinity - excellent offer?
Hi,
have you seen new Swisscom Natel Infinity offer: http://infinity.swisscom.ch/?lang=en
It looks to me like a fantastic offer, especially for heavy users (and for roamers).
It does include a significant roaming allowance (data roaming, call roaming, SMS). Also it includes unlimited calls to abroad (OK, not the whole world, but most of the W.Europe + USA and Canada).
To me, this is a great offer, and pricing-wise quantum leap compared to current offers (arm+leg for MB in roaming).
Opinions?

| | | Re: Swisscom Natel Infinity - excellent offer? | Quote: | | | | | I dont call giving out 99 Franks every month a good deal | | | | | Totally depends on your usage pattern. Currently my bills are in the CHF 70-80 range including 100 SMS and 500 MB which is plenty for me, so I won't change my plan.
But there were times when I would have killed to get unlimited everything for CHF 99.
As a customer I'm a little worried about what these new plans will do to Swisscom's service quality though. I'm pretty sure that data usage will skyrocket once enough people have moved to the new plans and I wonder if Swisscom will be able to upgrade their network quickly enough to cope with that additional demand.

Well I'm currently shelling out 55 a month for a contract with 1GB of data. Calls and texts are not included, as a result my bill generally comes in at over 100 a month, so I'm likely to look closely at one of these infinity deals.

well, I am thinking that this deal is great; then again I am traveling often abroad (3-4 times per month for work, and grocery shopping in Germany).
The fact that data roaming is included (with voice roaming and SMS roaming) is great. Whoever uses GPRS roaming knows what I am talking about - the data roaming itself is crazily expensive.
This is (for the first time truly) that data, voice, and SMS roaming in generous amounts is included in the package (as well as unlimited calling abroad).

Im currently using swisscom liberty primo, which is one of their primo / medio / largo packages.
Im trying to find out what the data speed is with those packages at the moment, to see what a step up or down the infinity packages would be.
Anyone know?

Does it make sense to have the "infinity L" (21mbits), with an iphone 4 (not 4S)?
Does someone know if the iphone 4 supports such high speed, which I believe is HPSA+?

I have the "M" version which is already more than Swisscom's network is able to serve in my region. Plus my phone doesn't "go any faster" anyway.
The "S" subscription might be too slow if you're a power user, but ok if you're the average e-mail reader.

Not sure if I am a power user, but I do stream radio every day at work, at least 4 hours every day... I would need some decent coverage for that.
One question that you might be able to help me with (as the Swisscom website does not seem to work at the moment ), do you carry over your unused minutes/texts/data for roaming to the next month, or are they only valid for that month?
