I'll be moving to Basel for six months and leaving my wife and young son behind. I will obviously want to do lots of skype calls. My apartment won't have Internet pre-installed, and from what I can tell most of the DSL providers expect a 12 month commitment. Does anyone have any advice on how to get a reliable internet connection for this short period of time (other than the obvious option of just going to a cafe)? I'm considering getting a wireless hotspot but even those seem to want contracts. I'm also considering a prepaid sim and open to any advice on the best networks with good prepaid options. Cablecom offers a free internet connection if you already use it for analogic tv.

Thanks! I looked into it, and I could find any information on whether a contact is required. Most of the Cablecom packages seem to require 12 months, but I don't see anything one way or the other for this option. Also, according to the link you sent me the connection is very slow. It would really only be good for sending emails, not for skype or anything like that.
