My 9 month old son found my iPod Touch and used it as a teething ring and it is not working anymore :-( I have tried putting it in rice to dry it out but have had no luck. I have a lot of data on it that I want to keep and I was wondering if anyone knows where I can take it to get it repaired.

The iPod touch is effectively unrepairable, and replacement is really the only option.

As far as your data is concerned it should be on your computer and you'll be given the option of restoring the iPod backup onto the replacement when you connect it.

I used http://www.iklinik.ch/ to have the battery in an iPhone replaced. No complaints about their work although it is not bargain basement prices. From their website, they also seem to handle iPods.

Would be interested in the outcome of this, last year needed to repair a HTC phone. In Winterthur the only place we noted was Saturn have a repair desk which charge a minimum of 150CHF as we were travelling to UK we looked online and had it repaired including labour for under 50GBP

The swiss estimate at the time was 400CHF and advise was to replace it rather then repair. I would expect an IPOD touch to be similar

I went to the Apple Store on Saturday and was basically told that it would not be worth my while to try to get my iPod repaired as it is over 4 years old. It was a great excuse to buy an iPad as a replacement . Just a pity about contacts and information in my calender which I have lost!

Don't throw your ipod touch out quite yet. My son had a ipod touch that he left in his pocket and it went through the washing machine. Did the dry it out in rice trick for a week, then the leave it in the car near the windscreen and the hot air and vibration might dry it out - NOTHING!! Then we just left it in the kitchen drawer for a couple of months, I decided to give it one last go before throwing it out and........... it came on. All the games, music etc were still there, the password was still set. It is still temperamental, and doesn't hold a charge, but it can be played with whilst plugged in (when it's in a good mood!!) Yours might have a similar outcome and you might be able to get your data off it at some point, I would have thought slightly "baby-chewed" was not as destructive as full wash cycle! Good Luck!

I haven't thrown it away yet so I will hold on to it for a while and try again in a few months. It would be great if it worked! Thanks for letting me know that there may be hope yet!

Has anyone gotten their iPod touch repaired? My daughter dropped hers in the bathroom just now (naturally the only rooms in the house with tile flooring...) and just yesterday her little brother took her protector case off of it and it didn't go back on, so the poor iPod was defenseless against the cold, hard tile floor - the screen is smashed quite badly!

Anyways, I have looked a bit online and it looks like the charges are around 130 CHF to repair the screen (not sure if it gets repaired at the apple store or if they give you a new(refurbished) one. My BIL said to take it into the store and ask them, they got lucky before where they gave it to them free of charge (although my niece broke hers on the first day of having it & it was her birthday so maybe they took pity on her).

I am just kicking myself for not having the silly protector cover on it - I assume that would have prevented this...

just an update - went to the Apple Store at Glatt Zentrum today (mental note: next time make an appointment at the Genius bar )

Got a "new" iPod Touch 4 gen. 8 gb for 109 CHF to replace the broken screen one, I assume it is a refurbished one? I thought it would be a little bit more expensive, so I was happy for that. OH thought it's a waste and I should just buy a new one. Except clever Apple no longer has the 8 gb ones, even from gen. 4, so you have to buy at least a 16 gb one for 239 CHF. Anyways, lessons have been learned, hope not to be repeated!

Had a similar experience back in Dec/Jan - had to check sometghign on daughter's touch, as I was taking ito ut of the case it fell 50cm of so onto the dining table - frotn glass was then shattered.

Not happy - that the touch is so 'delicate' (compared to an iphone, old ipod, or - was the best - an indestructible nano), and that I'd just damaged my daughter';s pride and joy.

Was quite relieved that I only (we are in CH) had to pay 109 CHF for a replacement (brand new or refurb, don't care, but never want to touch my daughter's touch again!).
