So called "unlimited" swisscom really got on my nerves

Hello, I am using a prepaid "unlimited" swisscom internet, with a sim card that is. I am really annoyed by this internet, that when exceeding 10 GB you can "use" the internet at low speed. Low speed would be great. I have seen low speed before but this is just crazy. I also went to the swisscom store and the girl told me that she could understand me but could not do anything about it, meaning that this is just the way it works. Well it's limited, OK, but why didn't they tell me when i bought it? She told me I could send a sms and ask for extra GB. Ok, when I asked her for the number she told me she did not know. She even asked her supervisor and he did not know either, OMG. She then told me to call the number 0800 800 800 and ask them. I do not know what to say, do they make it on purpose to foreign people? Who can call this a service? Now I just do not want to call them, I am afraid they do not even speak English. Can anyone tell me what to do, or at what number should I send the sms at?

Best Regards,

I think you may have been throttled to 64kbps speed after the 10GB limit.

Most of the Swisscom engineers speak English. Just ring them and ask.

If they don't speak English themselves then they will put you through to somebody who does.

You can order data packages by SMS at any time, providing your tablet or notebook supports the sending of SMS:

  • Send an SMS with START DATA500MB to 444
  • Send an SMS with START DATA5GB to 444

The data package will be activated after just a few minutes and your surfing speed will be increased again.

The SMS must be sent from the device (with the SIM) for which you wish to activate the data package.

Alternatively, you can order the data packages through your Swisscom customer centre: www.swisscom.ch/login.

The order relates to precisely 1 data package in the current month. See “Can I deactivate a data package again?”

While I agree with you on the abuse of the term 'unlimited' I don't see how that's related to you being a foreigner.

BTW your profile says you speak Italian as well. If Swisscom doesn't have someone who speaks English they'll certainly be able to find someone who speaks Italian since Italian is one of the national languages.
