I believe Samsung have upgraded to ICS on all their tabs now - should happen more or less as soon as you turn it on.

Re: Samsung galaxy Tab 8.9 Wifi - Migros - CHF 222

Just want to give a thumbs up to this deal.
Bought my little boy one of these on the weekend, and for the price its absolutely brilliant. Amazingly, Samsung still haven't released an ICS upgrade for this model even though they intially promised it in Q1, therefore it comes with Honeycomb 3.2 out of the box. What a massive diservice to such a pretty, svelte device its slow, clunky and the interface is pretty awful. However root it, and grab an ICS ROM off the internet and it transforms into something very nice indeed.

I managed to get the last one instore (in Buchs, AG) but its still showing as instock for home delivery... get one while you can

Gee Castro, we think alike...although I ordered this one for the OH rather than my kids . I ordered one yesterday online and I should get it tomorrow delivered! Have to look into the OS issue...hopefully we can figure it out! Will have to worry about that when it arrives....

The official update is due any day now, however if patience isn't one of your virtues you can get a ROM off the XDA Developers website and flash it yourself. I can provide link and limited instructions, but need to warn that if things go wrong you could brick your device

which rom did you use? it seems many have broken elements (e.g. non-working camera)

Its a direct port from the Galaxy Tab 10.1 ICS update and can confirm that everything is working as it should (except in systems information where it does list your Tablet as model No.7510 as opposed to 7310). My firewall won't let me access XDA, but I can post the name of the ROM once I get home this evening.

Well, patience is definitely not one of my virtues, but in this case I will have to make an exception and wait for the update! It is for my husband, anyways My iPad works just fine...

Could be, but wouldn't hold my breath. Even thought these are non-3G models, there are regional fw differences so the Italian 8.9 Tab has already received an ICS upgrade, but not the UK or US versions.

Sad I just missed out on this deal. I bought one of these back in an Interdiscount special a few months ago when the price was 349. Very happy with it and like it being that bit smaller than most tablets. I would have got one for my better half but see the link is dead

Re: Samsung galaxy Tab 8.9 Wifi - Migros - CHF 222

I went for this deal, and was quite amused when the US version got a 4.0 upgrade this week itself... flashed it from the information on the XDA development page... stock ICS works brilliantly, and you can feel the difference from Honeycomb... however, there is a bug too... on locking the device and unlocking again, a garbled fuzzy display comes up and its impossible to work with the tablet... will have to revert back to 3.2 now... not a problem, except that I have forgotten which stock version I had... can someone install the SGS CSC app from the Play store and look up the region code for me... once I know this I can choose which 3.2 version to flash...

I had exactly the same issue, basically the ICS update I was using didn't like my European ROM. So I reflashed with a stock US ROM (UELA3 ) using ODIN to get me back to square one. And then flashed again with the same ICS ROM.

Voila, no more fuzzy screen and very stable.

I think I did try flashing same last evening... but to my dismay even this US 3.2 version had the same garbled screen bug as the US 4.0... hence I thought of reverting to the original version... but I'll try the same again nevertheless... I still have the md5 images saved on my system...

added an extra step of wiping data/factory reset in between the two steps and now everything works like it should

I think this is a stupid question but on the link the offer says valid between 21.08.2012-3.09.2012 does that mean that if there is still stock available I will be able to purchase this on Monday. The question is are the dates inclusive?

And also how easy/difficult is it to upgrade the operating system for someone like me who has very little clue about "gadgets"

Sean,

according to my previous experience with Migros on other promotions like pans, etc ; they take you order even if they run out of stock in that shop and deliver in the following days.
