What's up with iphones 4 and cracked screens? colleague next to me has one that looks really bad with whole mesh of cracks, in morning somebody in train had same model that was almost falling apart, and over last weeks I've see seen quite a few here and there with more or less damage on it. Not bashing Apple since the construction looks quite rigid, probably just strange coincidence...
(mine SGS II fell on concrete sidewalk few times screen down and not a scratch there)
You can buy a screen on ebay for about 30 dollars-
I am no tech geek and i hate fiddly things like that but i managed to do it. . . . but i had 3 mini screws left over
Havent had any issue with the phone though at that was 5 months ago!
I know right, but I am useless at fiddlg things like that, last time I did it before I came here about 5 months ago my friend who did it for me was an expert with it it and he spent a good hour with it I asked if it was easy to learn but he said not worth trying as all the bits have to be exact because affects phone in the end somehow, I wish I was confident enough to do it but sitting there with tweezers for ages would not do for me haha.

I know right I am a clutz to be honest but this is the 2nd time it's happened to me in 8 months and my old 3GS it happened twice in 1.5 years (which is good for me) it did take a lot of throwing around too but the screen repair for that was nothing compared to this one took £15 and ten minutes, this takes min £50 and at least an hour grrr!
Also see if it's covered on your household insurance. Just had an iPad glass screen replaced there for CHF199. All covered by insurance...
Thing is we couldn't get household insurance as my partners work (hence why we are here) sorted out flat etc. Trying to get single items insurance here. Have got all insured at home so if it comes to it will blag it like got lost/broken/stolen at home hahaha
Thanks for that, would have been easier if we had that for sure
I wanted to second AbFab's recommendation for Gadget Hospital. They are conveniently located very near Bahnhof Wiedikon. I dropped off my busted iPhone 4 without an appointment about 10:15am and it was good as new by 2pm for 120chf.
They were super nice and polite. I hope I don't have to use them again soon thought.
