| | | Smart phone bills?
Just wanted a quick straw poll on how much people are typically paying here for the bills associated with smartphones....
Recently we became an Iphone family - one of them plus a non-Apple phone with web access only (no apps).
The phone bills jumped quite a bit (not a surprise) but we are now paying around CHF400 per month for both phones with some international travel included in that, probably would be closer to CHF250 per month without that element.
I don't really want reduction tips - I don't want to be rushing from coffee shop to coffee shop to use google maps - but just interested if CHF100 - 150 per month per phone is typical or not for such phones here?
(PS Neither phone is used for streaming or downloading files - only FB, web, maps, etc etc)

This is really heavy. You probably do not have a subscription, but "pay-as-you-go" for both data and calls/SMS.
Do you have a breakdown of the costs? I.e. how much is for calls, how much for data?

How much does yours cost per month?

I pay between 50 - 100 CHF per subscription. 70 on average. 100 is in case of traveling abroad.

I'm on a Swisscom unlimited usage contract (internet, SMS, Calls) and pay 99 a month flat rate.
Obviously if I'm outside of Switzerland, or calling abroad then I'll end up paying a lot more.

I pay 124.50CHf per month. With an additional 4chf on top if i need roaming. This 4 chf covers me for a month.
I have unlimited internet, calls and texts.
The unlimited package also covers calling & texting most of europe. I call/text ireland more than any other country inc switz so this plan works well for me.
Also, my husband is a pay as you go customer. He buys about 20chf credit per month because if he needs to call home, use internet etc he uses my phone.
he saves alot of money now by using my phone also we canceled our landline number so saved there too.

i never really noticed google maps using a lot of data. the only time i went over the limit was when i tethered my laptop to my phone data plan. i pretty much used the entire month's allowance in a day.

I pay CHF 75 for unlimited domestic calls, unlimited messages + unlimited data at 1 Mbps.
EDIT: Link to the Swisscom plan I'm on.

Wow. That seems expensive. I have a smartphone I use for 2 hours every day browsing the net. I am on pay as you go with Orange and it costs me 15CHF per month. Generally make calls through skype so even with a few calls don't pay more than 30CHF a month including some international trips.

Great data, guys - thanks - big variations from mine right down to CHF10-15 per month, amazing
Mine and the missus international travel do make a difference, but seems like there is an opportunity to save a bit.
(PS Since moving to Basel and sneaking across the border NOT to bring in a sneaky chicken, we probably get roaming charges from being 10 minutes away from home too!)

I travel a bit and on those trips grab a lot of large emails. My bill was therefore between 350-750 CHF a month. I upgraded to the top subsciption with Swisscom at 169CHF and now I have unlimited everything included. It really does end up cheaper in the long run.
