I was lucky enough to get the new iPhone 5 as a pressie but I'm struggling to find a way to use it in Switzerland. I will be in Zermatt from December til April so can't get a contract. Does anyone know a good option for prepay or non fixed contracts? I would like to use the features of the phone of course so internet is a must and a few texts and calls. Ideas?! Anyone??!?!

They have a number of pay as you go options and "bonuses". When you put CHF 30 on the phone, you get free Internet for 30 days.

A SIM card will cost you CHF 5.

you will likely need a permit to get one now. Or a friend. Even PAYG.

been looking at orange and just trying to figure out which is best really! Do you know if sunrise and swisscom do a no fixed term contract?
Will have a permit as I'm working, got an m budget sim already but internet is a no go really.

I couldn't see that anywhere on the Orange website. Yes, you need ID (an ID card or a Passport) for any phone these days but I read in the help area one of the Orange moderators "selling" the pay as you go option to a tourist. Not sure how this matches with what you are suggesting.

Just tried to buy online and as a UK resident it says it wants id of either Diplomatic permit, B, C or L permit. I don't think my work permit will be any of them!! back to square 1....

You can get any SIM card from the prepaid carrier of your choice (Sunrise, Swisscom, orange, etc.) and cut it. That's what I did going from my 4S to my iphone 5 rather than paying 40chf for a new one. You can find the template online through searching on google, it's rather simple. Good luck!

Hi, I have a similar question.. I am going to be in Switzerland for about 6 months from now and want to buy iphone 5 so not in contract. I have my permit, passport and residence card,... Can i use any networks sim card if I buy it on non-contract? Will I be able to use it in my home country India without any problem? Thanks in advance for the answers.

I have people in my office using pre-paid Sunrise connection without a contract and still using internet on their phones. You may want to check with Sunrise.

You can buy the unlocked phone from apple or digitec, they are better priced in terms of non contract phones. Take your prepaid sim from sunrise (day flat) 1 chf daily will allow u to call unlimited calls on sunrise network and swiss landline phones.
