| | | Sky TV Viewing Cards
Has anybody had dealings with this company at all? I haven't used them as yet but was thinking of doing so. Any feedback would be much appreciated. http://www.skyviewingcards.com/
Thanks....

I don't particularly want to go down the family and friends in UK route again and this, at least from the website looks a reasonable setup, even a bit cheaper than my current sky contract.
Unless of course there are any hidden features!!

i looked at the site and it does appear to be cheaper than direct, which rings bells as does the claims of sky in asia ( i am aware sky uk and sky de is different but still.... )
i cant see many details for them to set it up which is also an alarm bell.
for the friends route all you do is make it an "a" address eg 37a xyz street and give sky your CC details, and opt out of the magazine then your friends dont get any junk mail each month.

I've got parents in the UK on the ready, just need to find the right deal.

I'd expect there to be lots of hidden costs on top of the quoted price. Anyway, you'd get real problems if, for example, you got a new sky+ box that you needed matching to the card, cos they'll want the contract number and address details for a start.

You need to tell them you already have a dish set up and have your own receiver (and get your own dish and receiver)
Not sure if they still do, but you used to have to have a subsidised reciever connected to a phone line.

Reason: Clarified "stuff" 'cos Rob's right, of course.

you tell sky you have your own equipment and just want the card... tell them its for a mobile home.
they wont send you a box in the post (last time i checked)
for the phone line you can opt out of that but you pay a 1 time fee AFAIK its been years since i looked into the whole thing.

The phone connection is something that was required for a subsidised installation contract - if you have your own kit and just want the card they can't insist on anything.
Although they will often try and convince you of the opposite, just as they try and get you to sign up for an HD subscription if you change to an HD box, regardless of the fact that many HD channels are already available without it. And just as they'll try and arrange an engineer visit to 'install' it.
I like the mobile home idea, though, as it'll shortcut at least some of their arguments. And I claim to be a qualified electrician just to shortcut the installation argument.

the phone line is for a subsidised box, if you have your own equip then no line is needed.
if you want a subsidised box and no phone line you pay £25 extra from what i can see

So you need someone there to forward it on to you. | Quote: | | | | | Also does any one know how much it is a month to get the sky sports package?
