Come on. It's not SO bad. Vista was the worse -- it was truly painful to use.

Actually, I found 8 runs better than 7 or XP on my antiquated computer.

Also, check if your former university has licenses for sale for alumni. I know at Univ. of Toronto, for $20 CAD, you can get 3 licenses for Win 8 if you're a student or new grad.

From what I can see, this also seems to work only from Windows 7...am I mistaken?

I really, really wouldn't upgrade from Win7 to Win8 yet. Wait for a service pack or two at least.

Well I find windows 8 great. You simply don't know what you are missing. There are people who are scared of change. But it's not your fault-don't worry.

Well I bought it last year for 30 Franks without having to first have bought a PC with Windows 7. It was special price-now I think you cannot get this anymore

After many months of trying Windows 8, I now can no longer log in with a PIN number. I have not forgotten it and can even delete it but it refuses to create a new one saying "please try again later". If you tried to use the PIN it froze for ever.

Seems I'm not alone
