Re: [VoIP] Swiss VoIP services: Experience

Looking at using this company:

https://www.netvoip.ch

Anyone any experience of them?

The web site is primarily English.

The service can be free pre-paid where you just pay for your calls and the rates seem pretty competitive. Have a UK VOIP serivce and I will do some real calculations based on out call history to see what the best option would be.

Swisscom also offer 'DSL & Natel Pro' so you can STOP paying your land line costs 25chf. Also the DSL connection is 10chf cheaper (59 instead of 69).

You can port your existing number to them for a one-off cost of 60chf. But want to be sure of them before I port the number. They seem to have been in business since 1995.

What looks really cool is you can have upto 3 numbers per account, and each of these accounts can have upto 7 devices. So you can 'TAKE? your home number with you and use it on your Mobile, PC etc...

They seems to have numbers from most regions, but having problems selecting a 044 number, they told me they were updating the databse and to try again, but still having problems. Not an issue in the end if I port my number to them.

Re: [VoIP] Swiss VoIP services: Experience

Depends where your calls are to. Swizernet is CHF9 per month and calls throughout Europe, incl UK and USA are free...

Re: [VoIP] Swiss VoIP services: Experience

Also looked at Swizernet but they can't port our number. Will calculate our normal usage and see if this is worht it. We have a UK VOIP account with 1000mins free and we've never run out yet - costs 4.99GBP. So would probalby drop this down to pre-pay so we still have a Uk number for friends and relatives to call us on.

Re: [VoIP] Swiss VoIP services: Experience

I've used Switzernet for more than 2 years now. CHF 9 per month.

All calls to US/Canada/UK/most of Europe are free. Swiss Natel 11 Rappen per minute. My average communication bill is less than CHF 3!

Very happy with them. Occasional echo on the line but that also the case with land lines nowadays!

Re: [VoIP] Swiss VoIP services: Experience

Yes, Switzernet is on my short list.

I already have a monthly service that covers the places I want to call, this give just 1000mins free (for 4.99GBP) and I checked and in the last 3 months we have not used over 400mins of this. However this would be at least 10chf through one of the local Swiss providers (using pre-pay).

Main problem with Switzernet is they won't port your number.

Second thing is we like having a UK number for friends and relatives to use to call us. I can change the UK subscription to pre pay then still have a UK number (but a new one).

Then have Swizernet for primary usage and netvoip to keep our old number. A bit complicated but seems to be the best solution.

This can easily be setup either on our Seimens gigaset or Fritbox 7390

Re: [VoIP] Swiss VoIP services: Experience

My experience is, it is better to pay minutes than a subscription. Because normally one will not use more than 500 min per month. From some viop provider you pay only 6 CHF for this. If use less, you pay less.

Re: [VoIP] Swiss VoIP services: Experience

Tja, my wife used 680 minutes calling Canada last month against my more reasonable 112 minutes to Blighty. That plus all our Swiss calls (322 minutes) and the bill came to CHF 0.21 (2 Natel calls) plus the CHF 9 for subscription.

I'll be sticking with Switzernet for a while yet.

Re: [VoIP] Swiss VoIP services: Experience

Does anyone know of a Swiss VoIP service that gives you a local Swiss number with no monthly charge? The are often available if you buy some credit with some providers.

Any help appreciated

Re: [VoIP] Swiss VoIP services: Experience

I'v never heard any free VoIP dial-in number. Because the authority charges administration fee for such a number.

Doesn't sound like much of a business plan to me - unless they charge for calls. But then you might as well have a land line...

sipcall.ch gives free 032 dial-in numbers for their pre-pay package (you can even choose from a limited range, mainly 032 511 xxxx or 032 512 xxxx the last time I checked). For a monthly fee (2.90) you can also get other prefixes or for a small fee you can even port your existing number to them.

I've been using them for years with absolutely no problem.

I use netvoip.ch which does not charge for having a number, just your usage. This will be primarily for incoming calls as I use swizernet.com for outgoing calls.

One problem with swizernet is they won't port your existing number but netvoip does.

netvoip for me also offers the telephony of the future (or as close as I've seen):

With one account you can have upto 3 numbers.
Each of these numbers can have upto 5 devices. i.e. your home IP phone, a gigaset with several handsets, your computer/laptop, your mobile phone, your partners mobile phone.

This means your number travels with you, where ever you are.

The perfect soltution of course would be to combine the Swizernet 9chf monthly fee with the Netvoip service.

I also have a UK number for incoming calls http://www.voiptalk.org I used to have a monthly account with them for 1000mins of free calls but dropped this in favour of the swizernet option, this meant I had to buy the number which was 10ukp I think.

I have Switzernet plus Google Voice (Midwest number) plus a UK number with SIPGate.co.uk (for inbound UK number). All this runs on my Android phone, i don't havea house phone any more.

CSIPSimple and GrooVe IP Lite is what i use on the phone.....

also because their outgoing rates seem outrageous - well, by VoIP standards..

but I like the web site. one of the nicest ones I have seen - by VoIPprovider standards, of course. All the Betamax sites suck big time.
