| | | Samsung Galaxy IV launch March 14th http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-575...-launch-event/
Amazing how many people now care much more how Samsung updates the Galaxy but that there is much less hype/buzz around the next iphone.
So are you are waiting for the new Samsung or is nothing more that can be done with mobile phones ? Funny that the launch is in March but Google IO where Android 5 will be announced is not until May.
Have fun
Martin

Samsung has been sneaking up on Apple for quite awhile now, and I think the Galaxy SII gained parity with the iphone4, and the SIII passed the iphone5. This new phone blows the iPhone away, no question...

Not really:
According to Strategy Analytics data, Apple sold 27.4 million iPhone 5 units and 17.4 million iPhone 4S units during the fourth quarter of 2012. By comparison, Samsung sold 15.4 Galaxy S III units. http://www.idownloadblog.com/2013/02...phones-q42012/ | Quote: | | | | | Samsung has been sneaking up on Apple for quite awhile now, and I think the Galaxy SII gained parity with the iphone4, and the SIII passed the iphone5. You cannot compare the technology without comparing the numbers...SII is not even close to Iphone 4 and you said that SIII passed the Iphone 5...but even if it passed it from the technology point of view, you would still see that in numbers right?
And do not be so sure that S4 will blow the Iphone 5: http://www.forbes.com/sites/haydnsha...or-prime-time/ | Quote: | | | | | I was speaking from a point of comparing the technology, and not necessarily sales numbers, which can be misleading, as there is only one iPhone, while Samsung makes several phones under the "Galaxy" product line. | | | | | |

grr. i only just got my s3 and already it's going to be old tech.
the last 2 iphone releases were pretty boring. iphone 4s (meh) and iphone 5 had a bigger screen (but still around same size as galaxy sii) and was overshadowed by the maps debacle.
not sure what samsung will come out with next, but since there are few complaints about the s3, i'm not sure where else they will have to go except for adding useless bells and whistles, but i'm sure samsung can surprise us...

Oh please, not phone wars again.
Anyway, I think there is generally less interest over new phone releases from all the players as all of the current batch of smartphones do pretty much everything the user requires with the speed that the user expects.
Personally I don't see how pumping up the processing power, which won't be used, or adding resolution, which can't be seen, to the next batch of phones is going to get anybody excited. The next phones will only offer the same user experience anyway.
The only reason I can see for upgrading if you currently have an older but recent smartphone is for LTE function, but given that I get a consistent 5Mbps with my current 3G phone, which is way more than adequate for my mobile work, I don't think I'll be upgrading any time soon.

Some like BMWs, some like Mercedes.
I have both iPhone and Samsungs. They have both their good and bad points.
I still believe iPhones (and most Apple products) are easier for the not-so-techy users while the Samsung is more palatable to those who like to manually configure their preferences.
To each their own. I, for one, support Samsung now because Apple is just too high-handed (although their products are great).
The S4 should be a great product, based on the rumors.
I am hanging on to my S3, coz I hardly ever use more than 50% of its capabilities.
Samsung rocks! Why? Because they can rock Apple's boat.
PS: Did I mention that I charge and recharge all my "toys" EVERYDAY? Such a drag I tell ya!

There are numerous offerings out there that may be technologically superior, but not have a comparable sales volume. My Galaxy SII is easily the equal of the iPhone 4, and in a number of respects, I find it to be better than the comparable Apple offering.
These articles are interesting and insightful, but if I search I can probably find a skeptic for each of the iPhone iterations, as well as almost every Samsung offering. There's myriad opinions on the internet; the true worth of a product is solely in the eye of the beholder.
The sales numbers are still skewed in Apple's favor when you compare the iPhone against any one Android phone; this is due to there only being one cellular platform running iOS, while there are numerous platforms running Android. So anyone that wants Apple has to buy the iPhone, while Android users have numerous choices in formfactors, size, and features.

I'm sure the S4 will be bristling with extra features, brighter, sharper screen and more processing power than before, however it will still be lacking in certain key areas namely, ergonomics (too damn large), cheap materials (plastic) and an overly complicated, clunky OS with Touchwiz overlay which does little to improve matters. It will be launched at an equivalent price to the iPhone 5 before rapidly tumbling in value.

Nothing wrong with plastic. Less dents compared to the iPhone <g>

An approach that would provide more immediate results would be to really concentrate on reducing the power requirements of the device while still retaining the same performance, rather than upping the performance and still retaining the same power requirements.
