| | | Google Glass - would you buy one?
My first impression was that it is a great idea to project all the information directly in your glasses.
But really, would people walk around in public with some nerdy looking thing while talking to their glasses? It is a bit like the even worse successor of the bluetooth headset.
Would anyone else than software developers or taxi drivers buy such a thing?

I don't usually buy hyped products. I don't own an iPhone, iPad, smartphone, macbook or gaming console. I haven't have the NEED for them so far. So no, I wouldn't buy Google glasses

As if we're not distracted enough? We already have people falling into lakes and down manholes because they are distracted by smartphones. I'm with mojado. No i-anything and definitely not these stupid glasses. | | The following 2 users would like to thank 3Wishes for this useful post:

No way. Why on earth would I need a "HUD" to tell me what the weather is, or read my email, texts or whatever.
It's bad enough now with idiots looking at their phones and not looking where they're going, but at least you can tell their not looking where they're going, and perform and avoiding manoeuvre. With these things you'll no longer be able to tell that somebody isn't concentrating on their personal locomotion.
With that in mind the idea of drivers wearing them scares the hell out of me.
Plus they look stupid.

In general, i hate voice activated technology. It never actually works, and when it does, it is never natural.
Having said that, i think it is a great idea with a lot of potential. Its about time the smartphone industry took things up a notch.

We were watching a BBC debate show about religious topics over the weekend and noticed that the subtitles must have been done by a computer. Every time the priest said "Jesus" the CC showed "cheeses." | | This user would like to thank 3Wishes for this useful post:

Plus they look stupid. | | | | | You are missing the point.
From this interesting article you can read: "Human beings have developed a new problem since the advent of the iPhone and the following mobile revolution: no one is paying attention to anything they’re actually doing. Everyone seems to be looking down at something or through something. Those perfect moments watching your favorite band play or your kid’s recital are either being captured via the lens of a device that sits between you and the actual experience, or being interrupted by constant notifications. Pings from the outside world, breaking into what used to be whole, personal moments."
However, I agree...they look stupid....but only until you have seen them a lot and everyone get's use to them.
Nevertheless....I want one (but nor for 1500$) | | This user would like to thank ElggDK for this useful post:
