Anyone with any experience trying to return larger ticket items like a TV from Interdiscount?...Just bought a TV last week, brought it home and now see that MediaMarkt has a better one for just a bit more

Back in the US, this would be fairly straightforward but I can only assume this is a pipe dream here to do a return, eh?

toppreise.ch and digitec.ch are indeed the best places to check.

For places close to Renens I would suggest shops in geneva:
1000ordi.ch or prodimex.ch

Interestingly Fust offers one new laptop model 100CHF cheaper that lowest price on toppreise. Btw mediamarkt in Zurich SihlCity matches digitec prices. So do not underestimate stores.

I've been happy with digitec, but decided to try http://www.topd.ch because digitec didn't have what I want in stock. I don't recommend topd; their stock levels are not inaccurate (I've been told I have to wait for 3 weeks for an item that they said they had ready to deliver), and I've cancelled my order with them, and going back to digitec.

www.toppreise.ch being a portal covers the individual places people are mentioning. Interdiscount & Mediamarkt etc are generally over priced, but occasionally have a deal on one or two items in-store, which may happen to be what you want.

Of the individual places I've used, most have been fine except for one .... buchmann.ch who basically stole my money and refused to return it for about a week - and would hang up on me when I called. Buchmann advertised a product as instock, delivery next day - which I wanted. In fact they had no stock and were planning to accumilate additional orders to mine before ordering them in! I.e. weeks (not next day).

I ended up double paying for the same product from elsewhere & sweated for about a week until eventually being refunded. I had already contacted a Federal Amt to initiate taking the matter further.

So, please, avoid Buchmann.ch.

For myself, I can say that I have been very happy with their service, but then I did buy in-store and took it home right away..

Buchmann aren't the only ones doing that. From all the shops listed on toppreise.ch, I'd say about 50% are in fact just frontends for one large distributor / import company. They don't have their own stock. Instead, they report the stock numbers the import company gives them. Some of them update these numbers regularly, others don't. Meaning that shop x may say that they have 10 of an item in stock while shop y says they're out, while they both get the item from the same source. If you buy from x, you'll be waiting weeks, although they said they had everything ready for shipping.

I personally stick to a few of the bigger companies listed on toppreise, where I actually know that they are individual companies (ARP.ch, digitec.ch, pcp.ch, microspot, brack / architronic, digifuchs etc.)
