Back to My Mac with Bluewin VDSL?

hi,

has anyone gotten Apple's "Back to My Mac" service to work with a mac that's behind a Swisscom VDSL router?

The service works well at home but I don't see my local iMac anywhere when I'm on the road - tried several networks, including Swisscom 3G/UMTS.

UPnP is active on the router. Haven't set up any port forwards since most people say that's pointless.

You may have to get a router that works with it, check out apple's support pages for more info.

AFAIK VDSL only works with the router provided by Swisscom :-/

Try switching off Upnp on the router and enabling port forwarding for the relevant ports. I was having problems with ichat video and this cured the problem. I'm not convinced Upnp is working properly. This is with 7.7.4r7 of the router software.

Re: Back to My Mac with Bluewin VDSL?

Hello I had this same issue for 18 months, now I have sat down to fix it.

I have a Centro Piccolo, and I am not sure I have VDSL, but still this might be helpful.

I have been able to obtain some success, which means I have browsed my USB external drive attached to my TimeCapsule connecting to it by the cellular connection of my iPhone (although I was sitting at home next to the TimeCapsule)

The key setting, I believe, is to activate IP Passthrough in the Swisscom modem/router and select the TimeCapsule as the "computer" in the network which will receive all the traffic.

I will test it better tomorrow from work, but the test from cellular should be unmistakable.

Cheers
Roberto
