internet tv?

Has anyone tried/experienced internet tv? I've recently come across Zattoo TV to Go, which looks interesting, but I remain a bit cautious...

Re: internet tv?

Not to sure myself Jack. It doesn't really have any English Channels (BBC World???) and i'm sure you would need a very fast internet connection along with a pretty powerful computer.
I've just got myself a Digital TV Receiver/Recorder from Cablecom for 15 francs per month including bbc1,2 prime and some english movie/sport channels. Mark has posted a how to guide for satelite installation aswell which looks pretty easy.

Re: internet tv?

I've just looked on their site and it looks ok. The need for Windows and their client sucks, though.

Cunningly I have a Dreambox at home that can do similar things using the VideoLAN client - I just have to open the ports for the VLC to get out on my router and I'm in business

Re: internet tv?

This looks rather good. Although not brilliant quality, its seemed pretty smooth and fast connecting, and minimal hassle with no registrations etc

Re: internet tv?

Just installed Zattoo on my notebook (https://zattoo.com/nowshowing). It does have BBC World (in case anyone is interested to see it for free).
It's works pretty well, I must say..

A site i found a while ago

I found a very usefull site a while back that has a large selection of Links to internet TV stations around the world. It has a couple of decent pages dedicated to the UK.

I think its kept reasonable upto date, so most of the links work.

Re: internet tv?

Hi,
There are some free websites which I use sometimes to watch tv on internet.
Like

http://wwitv.com
http://beelinetv.com/

The site I found good is
http://www.imvite.com/

Moreover, Mediacenter is a software I use to watch free tv on internet. You can download it from
http://www.coolstreaming.it/

Recently, I came to know about "jumptv" and it is pretty good, you can pay for a channel to for a pakage and watch on internet, the quality is really good.
www.JumpTV.com

good luck

Internet tv

I just found this site and wanted to pass it on: http://www.myeasytv.com/ It says they have over 320 channels and the best part is you don't have to download any software like joost. Enjoy

Re: Internet tv

In other news, check out www.tv-links.co.uk

Quality isnt great and obviously it's completely illegal, but all the latest movies and TV shows are on there.

Just don't watch Spiderman 3, coz it's rubbish.

Re: internet tv?

Hi all,

Zattoo in the UK has now started and is broadcasting BBC 1, 2, 3, 4, news 24 CBBC and Cbeebies.
However it only works when you use a UK provider.

Does anybody know how you can set up a UK proxy?

As I understand via a UK proxy I should then be able to pick-up these channels that are not yet on the Swiss Zattoo.

Thanks for your help.

Here's the latest from the Beebs on their new internet service which will be up and running next month, fingers crossed that it will be available abroad.

methinks you'll have to be routing using a UK proxy
they mention "available to all licence payers" - how will they check that - with a licence number?

Very powerful computer? For playing an MPEG-2 or any other compressed data movie stream?

I think all you need is enough bandwidth... and I'd say that with a couple of megabits video quality should raise acceptable levels for normal TVs..
