Hi Nev,

Did you contact satel in the end? I'm also looking for a reliable agent.

Thanks!
I did. I phoned them a couple of times with questions. They always picked up the phone (unlike storesatellite) and then I went to their shop to check them out. They're a real business with an address you can visit or call in Switzerland. Very polite. Very helpful. They gave me a card over the counter there and then. Not cheap.... SFr 150 one off activation fee and Sfr 375 annual admin fee (they'll bill you every year by post office payment slip).

Re: Sky Agent Recommendations

Hi, I am currently in the UK and moving to Zurich in Jan. I currently have a sky subscription. From reading all the posts about the difficulties with agents I assume I am best to keep my subsription going and transfer the address to one of my friends who I know will never want sky themselves? When I got the subscription originally I paid the additional £20 as I had no phone line. As such I assume they will not be able to determine that my box is no longer in the UK?

If I only bring the box and viewing card can I get a satellite dish installed when I am there or do I need to find a ladder to disconnect the dish too?

Thanks

Hi Chris, Welcome to the forum. You can buy dishes here and someone can come and put the dish up and configure it all for you. Yes, bring the set top box and the card. You most probably need a larger dish anyway.

Looks like they have screwed me too. Ordered new card. They sent one that doesn't work. They don't answer phone skype or email. I'm making a complaint with the credit card company. Suggest you do as well. If they get enough complaints they won't be able to charge anyone's credit cards anymore.

Re: Sky Agent Recommendations / StoreSatellite.com

I have also had serious problems with this company (if it still exists)

I ordered a digibox and skycard from them. I recieved an Irish Skycard only, no digibox.

My Credit Card has been debited from a company called Satellite Shop, Glasnevin in Ireland.

I have tried to contact them via email, internal messaging on their server and
also Fax.

The Irish address is a PO Box number only.

There is no sign of a contact or company address on the website. I thought that trading without such an address was illegal.

I have asked them to refund the credit card debit, but have had no reply.

Am considering other options but do not expect to see either my money, or the Digibox.

Not happy at all.

Don't despair Puahh. Credit cards often offer some protection against fraud and scams.
Report the incident with full details of dates etc to your credit card company and send them copies of all your correspondence showing your efforts to chase up the supplier. They should refer it their fraud department who should contact the supplier on your behalf. As a private individual you have no clout with the supplier, but if they still want to trade, the last thing an online supplier needs is to get blacklisted by a major credit card so they can't afford to ignore them. Depending on the circumstances, your credit card may even give you a refund but if they do, all you'll will have to sign an affidavit saying you didn't get the goods. It's worth a try.
Good luck.

Store Satellite

I'm afraid, Puahh, that I had an experience with this organisation about two years ago which was much the same as yours.

Store Satellite charged my credit card in respect of their annual maintenance fee without giving me any prior notice or providing me with an invoice of any kind for their services. They then ignored my several requests for a refund as I did not require their services to be provided for a further year.

My credit card company refused to assist with providing any refund of monies or any proper contact information for Store Satellite as they felt that I wasn't able to demonstrate conclusively that Store Satellite had acted in bad faith in debiting my account.

Of course I couldn't demonstrate this - Store Satellite don't provide their customers with any written customer agreement or contract governing the relationship between their customers and them. This is not surprising on one level since the supply of Irish Sky cards outside of Ireland is something of a grey area from a legal standpoint.

There is no doubt, however, that Store Satellite did act fraudulently in my case.

I eventually gave up on Store Satellite, and on my Irish Sky Card, chalking the episode up to experience. My desire to see Irish TV was outweighed by my frustrations in trying to deal with this shower, who should really rename themselves Roy Rogers & Co.

I'm surprised Sky themselves don't try to close Store Satellite down.

I am UK resident and I have therefore reverted to having a UK Skycard.

Hope this is of assistance.

Re: Sky Agent Recommendations: Skycards/Storesatellite

Hi Paul,

You have a problem !!
Like you we signed up for Sky with Skycards.net, and soon found ourselves as customer of Storesatellite.com - no we did NOT ask for this.
Our experience with them has been a total DISASTER.
Yes, as you noticed, the phone number on the website does not work, the Skype link does not work, and your only contact is via email which means that you get an answer if they feel like it - and the answers we have got to various issues have been completely unsatisfactory.
Their usual ploy is to blame everything on Sky.
When Sky cleaned up their cards recently storesatellite advised us to take the Irish card as it was cheaper - utter crap. The card was cheaper but NOT the monthly subscription.
Nasty little trap for young players.
Then they changed the name of their debiting account(s) without telling us and at the same time monthly subs went up in price and "funny" unexplained items appeared on our credit card.
Are you starting to get the picture here, Paul?
To sum it up, GET AWAY FROM STORESATTELITE !!!!! they are bad news.
We are now with Skycards.eu and believe me it is a totally different experience. You actually get to talk to pleasant people, and their prices are a nice surprise.
I would strongly recommend that you get away from storesatellite ASAP and try Skycards.eu.
If anyone is unfortunate enough to be a customer of storesatellite your best action is to get right away from them as soon as you can and sign up with a better provider.
Also, you might find that storesatellite will try and bluff you by claiming that the mandatory 12 month contract period runs from the recent "upgrade" card - wrong, the 12 months runs from when you first signed up.
Be careful !!!

Good Luck,
jag06.

Hi Everybody,

This is my first post to this site.

I have an Irish Skycard through what used to be Skycards.net, now Storesatellite.com. I am having certain difficulties with them which I need to resolve. However, the phone number quoted on their website is never answered and has a permanent message inviting callers to email them. I have emailed them several times but have not received any reply.

I also note that the Storesatellite website does not have a business or correspondence address for the organisation.

Has anybody else had difficulties with Storesatellite.com or know if they are still in business or where they can now be contacted? Any information gratefully received and appreciated.

Thanks and best regards,

Paul

Re: Sky Agent Recommendations

Hello everyone,

Storesatellite is indeed a strange person to deal with.
I payed a lot of money for a simple box and extra money for the latest new card.

Now at this point they bill me every month an extra 160 euro over the last 4 months, money is taken from a shop called "satellite shop glasnevin irl"
So in 4 months they have taken 640 euro's from my creditcard

Nice fee dont you think ;-)

Anyway they dont reply on the questions why they have taken such an amount of money.I have blocked the creditcard so no money for them anymore. The same for my sky subscription do,which is also lost now.

Thanks storesatellite or should i say :

its beyond belief that people go through 3rd parties to get sky cards....

just call sky say u have your equipment and want a subscription, get it sent to a UK address, get a box off ebay and then get it sent over here... its not difficult!

I currently have a similar (although not as expensive) issue with him.

Your best recourse is to use the small claims procedure in Ireland. I checked with them and there is no problem that you are not located in Ireland and as you have the gits location you can even direct the claim to the correct local court. It costs just 15 Euro.

Thanks swissbob for your reply,

I have taken my own measures now ;-)
They will see these acts taken for myself later, maybe they are glad to put the money back on my account
This is just to inform other people that these guys are just silly scams.
Not in the smartest way btw

John,
Just signed in here and read these posts. I too am having the same problem. They have charged me 160euros 2 times in 4 months for yearly subscriptions. I have emailed them several times in the last two weeks, no reply.
Can't see how I can cancel my dealings with them!
My uncle pays my subscription via his CC as I don't have one, and I just pay him cash monthly.
I'm not sure how I can put a stop to this. I will ask my uncle to to contact his CC and block any more payments to this company.

Any info you might have on them would be welcome. If you need my help in supporting action against them I'm more than happy to join in.

Thanks,
Martin

Re: Sky Agent Recommendations

Hi. I found this thread as I have been having similar problems with StoreSatellite. They have charged me twice for renewal in the space of 3 months and have ignored all attempts to contact them. I managed to get my credit card company to refund the additional charge, so if anyone is using them or thinking of using them, be careful.

Re: Sky Agent Recommendations

I'm sorry for all the probs folks are having with disreputable Sky providers here. I don't understand why Sky gets away with divvying up service by language anyway. But that's not why I'm writing. I posted a few years ago that we'd lost our pay channels with Sky. But I still had the system and a card which seemed to at least give us some free channels. Last spring Sky started announcing that the old cards would soon be obsolete and that one needed to order a new one (which of course is impossible when one's address is Switzerland. So we lost almost all the reasonably decent Sky channels. Recently, someone offered his Sky card to me. Although "a year old" he thought it worth a try. So I put in in my box and the result was that not only did it not work, but it removed all access to Sky--gave the message that "no satellite signal being received" plus one saying that the system wasn't plugged in to the telephone. Now when I put my old card back into the box, I get the same message. Anybody know what happened? And what is the latest advice for getting connected to Sky?

Re: Sky Agent Recommendations

As you've found out, you can't mix and match sky cards and boxes. A card is registered to a specific box. It will only work in the box it's paired to. Have you tried turning off the box, then powering again, reinserting your old card and leaving it for 24 hours. When you insert a new card it sometimes takes a while for the card to activate via the satellite. May be that's the same if your old card hasn't been in the box for some time. I have an old card (now unsubscribed) in one of my sky boxes and I get the free to air channels.

a card will not cause you to loose the signal i suspect your box is faulty or the the cable is not connected properly/lnb is faulty.

switch box on, go to services on the top, system set up, signal test.

what do you have?

the telephone message is perfectly normal and can be ignored.

What colour is the new card you have? white i hope.
