Re: The Playstation 4 Current/Future Owners Thread

Since there aren't too many games out catching my attention at the moment, I thought I might go for Far Cry 4...has anyone played it?

I love Skyrim, Fallout, Mass Effect because there is a lot more to them than just the FPS dynamic. I'm not a fan of Resistance, Battlefield, COD etc.

Have looked at some gameplay vids, but still not sure if i'd enjoy it...from what I can see though, there are similarities to Red Dead Redemption, which I loved...

Help!

Re: The Playstation 4 Current/Future Owners Thread

Anyone tried Bloodborne? I've heard good things about it, but I never played Dark Souls, so know virtually nothing about it. Then again, it'll be yet another game to start and not have time to really get into and finish, along with about 5 others I have on the go at the moment.

I'm going to order it as soon as the price drops to around 30 quid. It's meant to be one of the best games ever released!

Price is actually more for the digital downloads, I won't pay for AAA titles on principle, even without the obvious benefits of reselling or trading.

A digital download is essentially a dead game... once you're bored with it then it's just stuck there forever.

I fdo buy digital downloads, but only games like The Walking Dead, WOlf AMong Us, Grim Fandango etc. Or if it's a good title then it's a good deal.

PS StirB, you have to get Walking Dead and Wolf Ampong Us, they are awesome.

Have downloaded and am playing Grim Fandango at the moment, having missed it first time round. The "remaster" is pretty terrible though...the characters have been improved slightly (you can see as it lets you toggle between classic and remastered) but they haven't updated any of the actual scenery/background. Bit cheap tbh.

Have heard good things about both, if I have time before Witcher 3, which i think will be my next buy, i'll check them out.

I also bought Grim Fandango... did you set it to widescreen mode? For some reason it comes default in bordered mode, pretty stupid. Still a great story though, and I never played it first time round. Takes me back, as I used to love all the classic point and click games.

I've now ordered Dark Souls II, and then when I've finished that will go through Bloodborne. Also want to buy GTAV. WItcher 3 I will buy and play, but only after I have finished 1 and 2 on PC.

Looking forward to the Mass Effect remakes too... didn't get around to them first time on PC. God of War III is also being remastered.

I really prefer playing most games barring RTS and some RPG's on consoles... it's just so much more fun and comfortable despite graphics differences. PC will always be the king for RTS and hardcore RPG games though, and it's why I bought my gaming laptop which should serve me well for a good while yet.

Re: The Playstation 4 Current/Future Owners Thread

Does anyone here have a PS Vita? I am considering getting one to be honest, but have a few reservations...

I'm not sure the games line up is quite strong enough to justify it, and I don't know how much ongoing support Sony is going to dedicate to it, to be honest.

How are the connection to PS4 features - worth having or just a gimmick?

I bought a Nintendo DS XL about a year ago and it was a poor purchase I have to say, hardly use it at all...

Re: The Playstation 4 Current/Future Owners Thread

Holy crap... picked up Dark Souls II the other week and man this game has to be the hardest and yet most satisfying title I have played in a long time. The first 12 hours are brutal as you are completely clueless and know nothing about the game, enter new areas and fight enemies, die a lot, repeat and do a little better but die a lot again, etc etc, until finally you learn how to best an area and monster and get decent enough equipment and souls in order to progress a little further to the next bonfire, and then push further through the next areas.

I'm playing a Warrior build with shield and War Axe (or Battle Axe, can't remember) as primary weapon (buff it up at the blacksmith when you get access to him). It also helps massively when you finally gain access to a crossbow and no longer have to get up close to wear an enemy down.

I eventually got to the first real boss (The Last Giant) and defeated him, and finally now feel like I am able to do more than fart in the general direction of an enemy. That is after about 20 gruelling hours or so of play and a hell of a lot of dying. Phew.

I'm on my third playthrough of Dragon Age: Inquisition. But thinking to hold off until the DLC comes in May before I continue.

I genuinely can't imaging playing the same 40+ hour single player game 3 times... it can't be that different each time!

Actually, it is quite different. When you play as a different race/class, make different decisions in the game, and choose to romance a different character.... it good fun to see all the paths available. If you only play it once you would missing a lot of the content.

The main story arc is the same, and the locations will be the same. I can imaging playing it through again after y year or something, but 3 times within 6 months? Eek.

Still, glad you enjoyed it, makes me want to get it too! If you decide you want to swap your copy for another game I have then let me know.

Re: The Playstation 4 Current/Future Owners Thread

I just splurged out on a new PS4 and some games (Amazon UK).. haven't really got a clue since I haven't had a console for years but this should keep me busy for a while.

GTA V
PES 15 Day one edition
Need for Speed Rivals
Driver Club
Call of Duty Advanced Warfare

So far I've only played NFS Rivals and I love it. Sense of speed, thumping sound tracks and the ability to be Cop or Bad Boy is cool. One thing I don't like so much is the myriad of options and layers of complexity (GPS, Upgrades etc..). These sorts of games should be kept simple.
