Re: The Playstation 4 Current/Future Owners Thread

I took the plunge and installed an SSD on my PS4, it was dead easy, 5 minutes work for the hardware, then maybe 10 for the software side of it. I used Playstation's official guide on their website.

If you have PS+, you almost certainly automatically upload all your game saves (and custom settings) to the cloud, and can re-download them after you swap the HDDs, or you can play it safe and copy them all to a USB stick (which you will need for the software reinstall anyway).

I have noticed a HUGE difference in load times in Fallout 4 already, so if you have games like this, or Skyrim perhaps, with lots of loading, this really cuts down on it.

P.S. any idea what I can do with my old HDD?

SSD is nice if you have the cash, but for a console the outlay (I would buy a 1tb size as minimum, so 300chf or so) doesn't really justify the benefits imo, it's not the same impact adding an SSD to a PC.

Re: The Playstation 4 Current/Future Owners Thread

I went with this one - it came 2nd in both read and write speed out of a large selection of SSD tested by, err, I forget which online magazine...

https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product...25-ssd-2728374

I don't think I would ever fill 500gb anyway, if you only have a couple of games on the go at a time, I don't think there's any danger of that, 256gb was probably enough tbf.

Surprised you got the Pro over the Evolution. The pro is way overspecced for a console, almost 50% extra of the price of the Evo and is basically about the same speed but with added enterprise encryption. You paid way more than what you needed to for console use.

Re: The Playstation 4 Current/Future Owners Thread

Anyone playing MGSV who can answer definitively why I lose oodles of GMP when I quit and log off?
I've see people mention online and offline banks, FOBs etc, but I don't have an FOB yet and only play SP.

I set myself a budget for the SSD, and bought the fastest possible device for that money, all good

Am in the UK at the moment and picked up the following:
  • Metal Gear V - 25
  • PES 2016 - 25
  • Evolve - 17

Absolute bargains when converted into chuffs!

Re: The Playstation 4 Current/Future Owners Thread

"Midweek Madness" at Microspot: PS4 1TB with Star Wars Battlefront for CHF 329. Using code MSP2015-15FR it goes for 314 chuffs.

So I took the plunge. Probably there'll be other deals around Black Friday or Christmas, but this is good enough.

I agree. I put a SSD in my PS3 back in the day and the difference was negligible. The nerd in me surely wants to "upgrade" my PS4 to SSD but the jew in me says 300 chf aint worth it, its fine the way it is.

Anyways, anyone tired Metal gear solid 5, phantom menace?

Bought it in the UK for 25 quid, but want to finish Uncharted before I play it, and that will take me ages I guess!

I just went ahead and ordered that, it looks like a ton of fun! I never played the unchartered games on my PS3 so more than happy to play them now with even better and smoother graphics!

It's awesome, I love story-driven games like that, especially with the Indiana Jones-esque vibes. It's a Naughty Dog game so you know it's going to be good.

I quite like a good-old sneak 'em up. It requires a lot more care and planning than just running in gung-ho and shooting everyone. Plus there's an enormous feeling of satisfaction in completing a mission without being detected AND killing everyone.
Fixed that for ya!

Re: The Playstation 4 Current/Future Owners Thread

Bit of the wrong place for this but I didn't want to clog up the forum and you guy probably know anyway.

http://www.interdiscount.ch/idshop/p...ove/detail.jsf

If I were to purchase this bundle pack for the new 3ds would the game and console be locked to German only? I've heard that certain games get a language lock with no changable options.
Also would I be able to access the UK E shop?

I understand you can play UK bought games on the console as it is locked to europe, but I'm wondering about the language really as this is cheaper than i've seen in the UK

The 3DS is region locked at a continent level e.g. Asia, Europe and the US. A 3DS here will play games from across Europe and the OS set to English. The language in games is tailored to the country where the game is sold. Most are multi lingual, certainly Xenoblade is (the game in the pack you linked). As is stated above, WoG is a reliable source to check the languages in games.

Yes you can access the UK Eshop but your Nintendo account must be registered in the UK and is not something that is easily swapped (not even sure if swapping is possible as it is a long time since i looked into this).

I have a 3DS bought in CH with a UK Eshop account and i play games downloaded from the EStore or carts bought in CH without issue.

Re: The Playstation 4 Current/Future Owners Thread

Thanks for your replies,

I suppose one further question, how can you set up a UK E shop account whilst in Switzerland? is it just a case of however you configure it when you boot it up?

I used to have a nintendo account as I owned a Wii so If I can remember the name and password etc.. I can see if that works as its all set for the UK I suppose
