Re: The Playstation 4 Current/Future Owners Thread

Can anyone recommend games for kids in the 6-10 year bracket? Or does anyone have 2nd hand games for kids that age that they are looking to sell?

As a guidance my son really enjoyed Lego Star Wars game on the PS4 and now tried the Jurassic World on the ipad and loves it as well

Lego Dimensions or Disney Infinity 3, in my experience the kids love the toy interaction and the DI game, base station and figures can be picked up cheaply second hand. Lego Dimensions gets expensive if you buy lots of characters but at the end of the day it's Lego that goes into the building box should the game fall out of favor.

Re: The Playstation 4 Current/Future Owners Thread

Well this is a thread I never thought I would contribute too! But im glad its here, some good tips thanks....So I have decided on a PS4 for my son (9) for xmas,( I was desperately hoping in vain that he wouldn't ask for one, but I guess the inevitable happened)
He is not that knowledgeable about all the games just yet and basically wants to play Fifa 17 (so annoyed its not on the WiiU but thats another story) I have noticed a lot of Xbox bundles with Fifa, but as I said have been persuaded towards a PS4 but they don't seem to offer it with Fifa? or any other age appropriate games, am I just looking in the wrong place (media markt/Toppreise ect) or am I going to have to buy it all separately =expensive!
I feeling the pressure to just by the xbox, its easier!

Any tips are appreciated!

Re: The Playstation 4 Current/Future Owners Thread

Ratchet & Clank is a fantastic game and is very good for his age range.

Minecraft is really popular too but I've never played that.

Ask him what consoles his friends have and get the same so that he can play online with them, share games, or bring his controller around to their house to play multiplayer with them. Encourage the social side of gaming, but make sure you lock down his online account or he will come across people like EF posters when playing online

that is a great tip about bringing the controller both his friends that live right near us have PS4s so I guess im going to have to go with that, he has another friend with an xbox but I have to take/pick him up from that friend so I guess that won't happen as often...
I think i will lock him out of the online stuff (if i can) for now - it scares me!

Re: The Playstation 4 Current/Future Owners Thread

There is a PS4 bundle with FIFA, World of Games have one for 349. The other option is second hand. I'm selling a PS4 at the moment for 280 but only one of the 5 games has a 7 rating, one other has a 12 (though I would let me 9 year old nephew play this), and the others are 16 / 18.

You should be able to pickup a PS4 cheaply enough with some great games like Ratchet and Clank, then buy FIFA and come in under the cost of a new bundle.

Yes you can, but you can also stop him from communicating via text or voice with anyone not on his "friends list", and you can control who gets added to this list.

So it seems to be the only one without English - does this mean that all the Fifa bundles come without English (i assume the language refers to the game and not the console?)

Sorry about this when I say I have no clue, I actually mean it ....

The console is multi language and you can set it to english, though if you have an account with the Sony PS Store online to buy games etc, and you give a Swiss address and credit card, the store text will be in German.

Games generally are multi language, but.... some publishers are a pain in the butt and only put limited languages on the disk - EA Sports being one of them. When I bought physical copies of most games I tended always to buy import versions of EA Sports games, or bought them digitally on the PS Store.

Unfortunately my copy of Fifa 17 is a digital download so I can't confirm if the physical game plays in English even though the box does not show it (fairly common).

You'd have to hope it's not in English if Andy Townsend is co-commentating

I'm looking forward to reading some reviews as I still can't decide if I should buy it or not....

Saying that I still have FF15, Dishonored 2 to finish, Titanfall 2 to start, World of FF to finish, Pokemon and Mario Maker. Too many games!

Best review line so far: "It's like Burnout of winter sport games".
Should be fun, I would also like to pick one up.

I never tried the beta so i am not sure.

Cons:
-takes a while to work alot of the functionality out
-controls are stupid and not natural feeling, i wish you could assign them how you like
-almost everything is available, no real feel of progression
-menu navigation is annoying
-only works if you are connected online -STUPID!!
-paragliding is waste
-music feels far too 'stock'
-if you keep going to the bottom of the mountain then it starts flidding out and sayong 'you have reached the end of the map', why the hell did you not just make a town and boarder at the bottom?
-alot of small silly things that where clearly not thought about or tested by the french artsy fartsy guys at ubisoft......it makes you wonder if the people who actually made the game are even gamers...

Pros:
-wingsuit is cool
-sound effects design is nice....crunchy snow!
-fast travel is fast

I can see that ubisoft tried to make the game realistic, which they achieved for sure. Once you start making your character move at the speed and way one would attack the piste in real life then the game works.

But this 'realness' has come at the cost of gameplay.

If they just took the SSX model and updated it then the game would be far superior. But they didnt.

Overall the game is okay and worth a buy, but i would recommend buying a disc to be able to resell rather than downloading from the ps store.

I do feel a tad disappointed.

cheers

Thanks for the review, your pros and cons fit pretty much with my feeling from the beta so I think I will give this one a miss

Anyone actually invested in a PS Pro yet?

If so, does it make any difference if you're just playing games on 1080p output?
