A third of the overall value, whether altogether or separately, I would imagine. Maybe half price for newer games.

25 games @ CHF 10 = CHF 250 (some old some newish, some new)

PS3 + 1controller = CHF150

Total = CHF 400

fair price??

As said before it makes not so much difference having an SSD... buy the 1TB then forget about it.
Well an SSD will be quicker than a Hybrid drive, so if the opportunity is there, surely it's worth doing.

I don't know if I'd ever get near filling 1TB? I'll only use it for games, not anything else multimedia wise?!

Seems games are on average about 20-30gb for a top end game, so if I only ever keep ~5 games on my console, I'm unlikely to even trouble 150gb, never mind 250?

Seems reasonable but I'm not an expert.

Games are getting huge now... Wolfenstein is 55GB even with disc, and as games get more complex they will be closer to 100GB once the extra content has been downloaded. I would certainly go with a 1TB for long-term security. Will also help re-sale value later when the slim version comes out.

Re: The Playstation 4 Current/Future Owners Thread

After two hours of entering in beta codes, I gave up and just bought the digital pre-order from the psn store.

With the digital pre-order you don't need a beta code, you can download and play the beta without any faffing about on the bungie site.

As we know downloading from the psn store is slow as a mother ducker, but eventually I was in.

I load it up and then a sign pops up and informs me that the beta is down for a couple of days.

What an anti-climax.

Had the same thing, but my 10.8gb (I think that was the PS4 size) downloaded like a flash, I mean stupidly quickly. I started it, went to put a brew on and by the time I got back it was done...bizarre.

Re: The Playstation 4 Current/Future Owners Thread

STOP PRESS

Ok, just finished Wolfenstein: New Order. And by that, I mean I have just finished one of the best story-driven, single-player experiences I HAVE EVER HAD.

Seriously, the story, characterization and voice acting were second to none... it was like watching an awesome movie and getting to play the best bits. I have rarely ever seen so much attention to detail go into a game where the setting and feel are concerned, I believed every single moment of every single chapter, my suspension of disbelief complete. The environments were perfectly rendered, everything just looked and felt right. Whoever wrote and realized this story and script, and created the amazing characters, did so far beyond what I would consider the call of duty (no pun intended) in this kind of game. It was clearly a labour of love.

Gameplay-wise, it got the balance just right. Sure, the AI had varying degrees of intelligence, and there were a couple of annoying sections, but those were few and far between. The stealth sections actually worked for the most part (although using L3 to take-down and throw knives gave me rage on occasion), and the weapons were ALL genuinely useful and imo perfectly balanced. Best laser ever imo, especially with the later targeting upgrade, it really added another unique dynamic to the gameplay. I didn't egt all the extras or perks, but I was playing just for the story progression, wanting to see what happened next, like a good book.

Playing on a PS4 is different to what I am used to, but I think I got the hang of it, and I accept that fine aiming and the occasional frustrations will be experienced with an FPS game on a gamepad. Thankfully, that didn't happen too much, the notable exception being the London Monitor boss, the final part of killing him which was tricky due to the sticks.

Looks-wise, to me as a semi-retired PC gamer the graphics looked great. Of course you lose resolution and anti aliasing, but then you don't need those to enjoy and appreciate a game, they are a luxury that is easy to forget when you get immersed in a game of this quality. The frame rate was buttery smooth throughout, helped I noted by some blurring techniques fading out the detail in a mostly unobtrusive way during certain sections.

All in all this was an absolutely superlative game, a true AAA title, and a throwback to the glory days when FPS's were big and badass, expect WNO takes the old formulas and adds so many awesome set pieces and visual effects and useful gameplay mechanisms that it's like an evolution of the traditional FPS. Like that the developers of the originally would have done had they access to modern PC and console technology.

An amazing gaming experience that I shall remember, even if I can't see myself playing through again (but I'm like that).

9/10.

Re: The Playstation 4 Current/Future Owners Thread

Destiny beta is back up after their scheduled maintenance extravaganza.

I jumped in for a couple of hours, it was quite fun, but imo a bit overrated.

After lunch I will have a longer session and try to get some better guns.

For those of you who have pre-ordered, I recommend playing this Saturday as Bungie is planning to give some sort of rewards or bonus stuff which will be a one off and will be carried over for when the full game comes out.

Still not as good as Perfect Dark.......but perhaps nostalgia plays a part.

cheers

Yeah I definitely am glad I didnt pre-order, Ill wait for review before I commit to anything I think. Not overly impressed with the BETA.

Just out of interest, why do you have three extra line breaks in between every sentence, does your app or phone do it automatically? Makes your post format annoying to read (I removed them when i quoted).

I have no clue, it only started happening recently.

I have a feeling its because even though I am a beyond extreme apple fanboi, I do all the admin stuff for my business on a windows machine. (which means I am normally posting crap on EF rather than actually doing any work). It only happens when I use this machine.

There is probably a setting which has changed without asking me, which seems to happen a lot when Microsoft does its bullsh1t updates and buggers me.

Never heard of any update doing that. Use Chrome instead, it's much better than IE.

I pre-ordered to get into the beta. Played an hour or so the other night, and although I enjoyed it, it was nothing overly special. Having said that, I levelled up to a mighty 3, so I've really only scratched the surface. The guys at IGN seem to like it and they often talk sense.

Nice Wolfenstein review, still to fire it up. I have an awful habit of not starting another game till I've finished the one I'm on, unless I'm completely stuck or bored with it, which hasn't happened with Watch Dogs yet.

Glad it's back up, not got the chance to play it yet.

I'm not really an FPS guy, but I'll give it a shot with an open mind when I get home - since I usually play a snipey sort of character in these games, I am looking forward to the verticality of the game, it looks like there's lots of higher up accessible places i can pop a cap in someone's a$$ from.

By which I mean I'll panic and miss and some 14 year old American kid will headshot me from 200m with a pistol and scream racist obscenities in celebration.

Not in a huge hurry to get the PS4, especially because there are a few Japanese RPGs still upcoming on PS3. Looking forward to Dragon Age Inquisiton, but wouldn't mind to get it on PS3. Probably the primary upcoming game that would convince me to get a PS4 is Witcher 3.

Thinking of getting a PS4 for my birthday. I still love my PS3, though.

Very much looking forward to Dragon Age Inquisition too. I'm a big fan of DA franchise. Would love to play it on PS4.
