New good private internet provider...

Im living in the sticks it seems and no cable coverage so its ADSL only
seems.. I am interested in hearing from people that use small -medium
sized internet providers for their home internet... just pure adsl/vdsl etc.
no phone, no tv. please cheap internet to the home.. any monthly plans
are all 2 year contracts?

ps: please dont suggest swisscom/sunrise they are poor value from what
i see. comparis shows a homestart sunrise @ 15 a month 15/1 service
but sunrise shows it at 40.. so comparis is a little out of date.

SUGGESTIONS WELCOME...

Re: New good private internet provider...

I suggest you do what we all do: go to the Sunrise, Orange, Swisscom offices and make a decision and sign a contract. Why should I do your shopping for you?

Hi there,
In Switzerland all internet offers include a fee for the phone or cable line. This is in addition to the fee for the internet service itself. To make the costs for the internet service comparable we do not include this fee for the phone or cable line in our comparison. You find those additional fees at the bottom below the comparison table. For Sunrise e.g. this fee is CHF 25 a month and sums up to CHF 40 as you have seen it at the sunrise website.

Best, comparis.ch

Dear Comparis.ch

This is not true, https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/ewz/de/index/telecom/ewz_zuerinet.html

Alle Angebote sind anschlussgebührenfrei. Sie bezahlen keine Anschlussgebühren wie bei Swisscom oder upc cablecom
Omitting the connection fee severly distorts the comparision.
Specially considering, Art. 35a of Swiss Telecommunications Act.
Quote:
3 No charge for utilisation shall be levied if:
a. the tenant directly forgoes use of a new connection;
b. the connection contract is cancelled; the telecommunications service provider or the lessor shall allow a reasonable cancellation period.
4 The telecommunications service provider or the lessor may place under seal and verify unused connections.
Which allows any tenant to cancel any unused connections and get the connection fee waived.

Re: New good private internet provider...

I just had a look at NET+ whats so great about them, the cheapest
package for just internet is 50 francs + the 29.xx monthly service charge.
meaning 80 francs a month for 10/1 adsl service thats really poor value..

did you find anything there cheaper on that site? i did not..

thanks for pointing out alternatives, i am greatful for the input...
can we keep the debate going. im sure some decent service will pop
its head up at some time

I am thankful for the new members in posting interesting information..
keep up the good work.

You are very much correct, I missed the monthly service charge.

I guess it's just that the best offer I could find for myself is CityCable (only in Lausanne, no Cablecom here) and I get a 30/2.5 Mbps cable connection + TV access fee for 85 CHF/month. It's decent but I was used to ridiculously cheap service in France

Hi again

Thank you for your feedback. Wer are sorry for our imprecise information.
There are as you say some few providers who do not charge any additional fee for for the line (mainly fibre). Then there are also providers that only communicate a final price for the internet including the line. In summary there are mainly these possibilities:

- The communicated price is for the internet service only. But in order to use that service you are required to have a line that costs extra (e.g. Swisscom, UPC Cablecom...)

- The communicated price is for the internet service only. But if you only use internet without any landline you will be charged extra (e.g. green.ch)

- The communicated price is a final price for the internet service including the line (e.g. Sunrise, green.ch).

- You only pay for the internet service with no additional costs for the line (in particular if you have fibre).

The different providers may sell one or more of those options.

We hope this helps,

Best, comparis.ch

Re: New good private internet provider...

I have been with Net+ for nearly a year now.

I recently upgraded to their new 250 Mbps service.

For just over 100 francs a month I get.

Technicolor Modem (high quality) and a Media player for movies (no charge)

Fast internet fiber optic connection.(250Mbps)

Free fixed line calls within Switzerland (including calls to mobile phones)

Free overseas call to 33 countries including UK, USA, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Canada, Italy, Japan, Australia, New Zealand etc.

Nearly 300 Television channels. Many in HD.

Can't complain.

Re: New good private internet provider...

I'd suggest to check 4G offers from your cell phone provider. This way, you can use your cell phone as USB and/or WiFi modem. Just upgrade your data plan, and you have your Internet with you, wherever you are. Of course, you need a 4G-capable phone, but most of them can receive 4G these days.
