It has also been owned by a private equity firm since 2010 so you have to question whether there is the same commitment towards investing in infrastructure.
well, Orange has been owned by an investment conglomerate for years now and they have definitely invested massively in their 4G network. I'm relatively sure they'll pass Swisscom in terms of 4G coverage in the near future. Sunrise, on the other hand, don't seem to invest in 4G at all - their high-speed network is growing at a glacial speed.

Now that Orange has been sold to some dubious French media magnate with a criminal history (he was acquitted for his pimping charges but later got sentenced for embezzling company money), I'm not so certain about their future, either - but as there's always Scrooge McDuck (aka Swisscom) to fall back on if things go pear-shaped, I'm not worrying too much :-)

Re: Swisscom Customer Loyalty offers

I just switched to Orange as they have the "Surf Unlimited" for 30 CHF a month 4G up to 100MB/sec.

I asked if I could share the connection, sure not a problem ... now I see I got charged and extra 21.95 CHF for one week of sharing the connection to my other devices .... argh ...

So you need to pay extra for the Multi-Surf option ..

I get around 12 MB/sec in this apartment and 27 MB/sec in the old not quite the 100MB/sec but definitely much better than the 0.1 MB/sec from Swisscom

I took a new iPhone 6 + 64GB from Apple Glattbrugg with reasonable broadband and switched my contract from Swisscom to Orange. I was billed outstanding two months as a part of the notice period. Ten days later my old Swisscom number was transferred to Orange with relevant notifications.

It was the best move I should have done long ago. Not only I pay off my new device pro rata but importantly there was no upfront down payment on the device.

The Apple shop assistant when asked why would people stay with Swisscom then? Answer, it's more like national pride and sentiments to stereotypical Swiss quality

I expect the real reason is that we are all a bit frightened to change as the offers we regularly get through the mail box are so confusing that we prefer to stay with Swisscom.

I am sure there are cheaper deals out their, Orange obviously seems like one, i'm just to stupid when it comes to advanced technology .....now smoke signals, Pony Express and Tam Tam drums, there i can help you out

Spot on ... That's how I felt about it in the first place. Some psychologically masterminded services leave the consumer self complacent. We're thinking, it's just a cellphone contract only and we don't wanna have hassles with cancellation and signing up a new one.

In reality, on one beautiful Friday morning you want to fulfill your New Years resolution number "xxx" and visit "y" store. It takes half an hour and the whole paperwork is done by the provider cancellation included. Simples.

Do it once in a while and save yourself money.

Visited the Orange shop, they cancelled the bill as it was a mistake, all good
