What are your experiences with Windows phones?

Does anybody have a Windows phone? Lumia maybe?

What are your experiences with it? How does it compare to iOS and Android?

Re: What are your experiences with Windows phones?

It works. Be more specific with your question. And ensure you get a Windows phone 8.1 if you get one.

I have all three platforms, my preference is Android. I have half an eye on MDM solutions though.

I have all 3 platforms and prefer Windows.

This is not going to be a helpful thread.

I went from Iphone to Samung Galaxy to Lumia. Found Lumia and WP to fit my style the best, Samsung the worst.

Re: What are your experiences with Windows phones?

I have a Lumia 620 and I prefer it over my Android and iOS device. It's got that well-designed feeling of the iPhone with the freedom of Android. It's got all the apps I need and it's great value. I also use a Window 8.1 PC and they both have native OneDrive integration, which is the killer use for me.

Windows phones are also good to use .Its graphical interface looks great. But some time it is difficult to understand the features of the windows phone specially for the aged people.
Could that not be said for any smart phone.

Re: What are your experiences with Windows phones?

I decided to get one for my Swiss phone as I'd already tried iphones and androids and fancied a change.
It's...alright. It works. Nice design.
However, some negative points:

*The build quality of my nokia is pretty naff. Its the first phone I've ever had which has developed a screen crack. As well as a lot of visible damage on the case. And I've only had it a few months
*There are very few apps available for it.
*When browsing the internet the time is not displayed.

Overall I far prefer my iphone and wish I could unlock it. Though probably prefer windows phone to android.

Re: What are your experiences with Windows phones?

I have had the Lumia 930 for a while now and find the camera outstanding. The rest is about all I would want and use. I find the interface simple, clear and free of the typical cutsies and curlycues that make the overview on other phones annoying for me. I've got a box full of phones I don't like, but it seems to be very individual, so I'd go in a shop and play with one for a while to see if it is on your wavelength.

Re: What are your experiences with Windows phones?

I have had Windows Phones for a few years. My current Nokia has survived a lot of abuse (by a lot, I mean water/dropping/kicking). I like the user interface but the main drawback for me is fewer apps than iOS/Android. All the important ones are there, but small developers dont bother building anything for it.

Re: What are your experiences with Windows phones?

One advantage to Nokia Lumia 930 is that AFAIK it comes with latest MS Office. What are the alternative Apps in Android, similar to MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)? Are they compatible to MS Office formats (.doc, .xls...)? Many thanks...

Re: What are your experiences with Windows phones?

The biggest problem with Windows phones is the lack of apps. Most are only for Apple or Android.

I also find that the memory gets filled with temporary stuff that doesn't clear when clearing the temporary internet files. I had to reinstall Facebook to clear its memory useage. Also the Facebook app keeps swapping between two different versions, even though I only have one installed.

I'm poor and only have a 640 .... and as of yet, no 10 update has become available on my daily update check.
However, as I need to use a virtual ticket from the SBB app. on Monday, I think I'd prefer not to have it.

Did you have control over whether it updated or not - or did it suddenly appear? ..... off to check settings.

Re: What are your experiences with Windows phones?

Hey, Windows phone is damn nice for basic stuff !!!
Great for emails, photos , fantastic location-reminders, Cortana is great, Great (true)offline mapping (although this is now available in other platforms too)(called Here Maps, Here drive), Superb customizable desktop-live tiles feature, very nice rugged body(Lumias look like new as long as you have it)

Drawbacks are lousy settings, music settings, customization etc.
Apps are really less. No snapchat, no Tinder.

Am thinking of moving to the Sony Experia Z4 when it comes coz the Z3 is so fantastic.

I would still go for IOS though. I feel without any tangible reason that everything is built for and around IOS. Good luck
