New Apartment, have to choose new provider

Hi all,

I am currently with Cablecom who I find somewhere between mediocre and unsatisfactory (customer service I mean, actual TV/Internet etc is fine).

When I move into my new apartment, I have been told the Glasfaser network doesn't support Cablecom...not the worst news in the world, so I have to choose either Swisscom or one of the following smaller providers:

https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/ewz/de/...eProvider.html

I have experience of Sunrise before, and also of Swisscom (albeit only as my overpriced mobile phone provider!)...has anyone used any of the other smaller ones?

My main concern is good internet speed, the TV stuff is secondary, but if I could get a CI Card rather than a Digibox, I would prefer that as my TV does all the TV Guide, record functionality etc itself, so no need for bulky box.

Thanks EF!

If you can get this, it is a no-brainer for internet: https://www.fiber7.ch/

Symmetric. Gigabit. 777chf per year.

I was with Init7. No complaints at all.

Ok, ignore my previous ramblings. Fiber7 say their internet is available in the new building, lovely stuff.

Next Question - did you have TV and or a land line telephone with them, and if not, was it easy to combine that with another provider?

When I move into my new apartment, I have been told the Glasfaser network doesn't support Cablecom...not the worst news in the world, so I have to choose either Swisscom or one of the following smaller providers:
A word of caution: Have Cablecom confirm in writing that they cannot provide you with service at your new address. This will enable you to break your contract (but you still need to adhere to the notice period). When you send Cablecom equipment back, they provide you with the post labels which are prepaid. DO KEEP THE Post Office RECEIPTS! There is no way to track the package using those labels, only the tracking number on the receipt.

I repeatedly asked Cablecom to confirm receipt of the equipment we sent back when we cancelled the service. They just won't do it. But they have been known to chase people many months later for equipment they claim has not been returned.

We switched from Cablecom to iWay last summer after moving to our new apartment in Bern. So far we have been extremely satisfied (we have the 20/20 for 39.- per month) with the speed. Also support has been extremely fast in replying (some connection problems on a Friday evening that were actually due to EWB). Moreover, you can try it for one month and if you decide to go for it you don't pay anything for the three subsequent months!
