Re: Pre-paid mobile deals
My advice is to use VOIP for all calls!
Even (especially) to Swiss landline and mobile calls. Just worry about the data, and not the international calls. Once you have a data allowance you can use VOIP with a SIP app.
I use Sunrise Pay-as-you-go but when I last checked, Aldi had a better deal. The Sunrise data performance is good enough to use VOIP most places. 9chf gets 250mb monthly allowance which will do all my calls for a month, still leaving some for checking email in emergencies. A 2GB data topup with Sunrise is 19chf when needed and lasts a month. That combined with hotspot access free from a home ISP (eg Cablecom hotspots in most residential areas), friends WIFI's etc.
VOIP uses surprisingly little data, but does need low latency and the power of a decent handset made in the last 3 years or so.
voipcheap.co.uk on my mobile gives me most international landline calls for free (including Switzerland), most mobile calls for 2p per min, eg, UK, Germany. Swiss mobiles are a little more but not much.
