Nachbarschaft24 scam

I am getting an e-mail notification from one of the websites called Nachbarschaft24, they are claiming that I registered on their Website & as per the terms & conditions I have to pay them some 59 Euro. I never loged on their website, however they did send me a e-mail notification of registration & they do have my IP saying I loged in from this IP.

After that I realised that my Access Point was not protected & it is quite possible that somebody abused it or there can be hundered other reasons.

Now when I told them this they are telling me either to send a Police report of the matter or they are threatening me to take to court. The company is somewhere in UAE (Middle East) & every time they send me an e-mail the address of their local office is changed.

I need your kind advice for how I should deal with this matter, as being a foreigner I relly don't want any thing in my records. Please guide me how I should deal with this matter?

Kind regards,
M

Assuming you understand some German or can use Google translate, this website will answer your questions.

Behold the power of Google.

Unfortunately, Mark is no longer with us but his wisdom lives on!

If you are certain that you did not register on this website, then ignore their threats.

If they are located in the UAE, I really doubt that they will issue court proceedings in Switzerland. Taking you to court will cost them more than EUR 59. In any event, there are other debt recovery avenues they have to explore before they can even take this matter to court.

I think this is a scam. They are just trying to scare and threaten you into paying them money. Who knows what might happen after you pay? They may somehow find out your bank account details, and the saga will continue. Further, paying the requested EUR 59 might amount to acknowledgement of your registration on their website, and perhaps a host of other things that you do not know about.

Just ignore them, or report the matter yourself to the police.

Re: Internet privacy laws in Switzerland

I am extremely sorry to hear about Mark. My Condolences.

After reading all the stuff & what I could make out is that I should not pay anything.
Please correct me if my understanding is not correct or I miss something?

I have also written an e-mail to them about all of this misunderstanding.
Best,
M

Don't waste your time and stop all e-mail communication immediately.

Your answer is proof that the mail address is valid, and makes it more likely that you will recieve more spam and scams in the future.

Ignore this. It is a scam. Don't answer them, just delete the e-mails.

Re: Nachbarschaft24 scam

Dear People,
Just to add my Misery as I had started to relax with this Nachbarschaft24 getting off my back, they today sent me an Invoice now from a German Company called "Deutsche Inkassostelle".

These people are asking me to send the money what as per Nachbarschaft24 is due along with their so called fine of Euro 5, which brings to a total of Euro 59. On top of that Deutsche Inkassostelle has added their own fee & made it a total of Euro 92.69.

This German company has a proper registered address (at least it looks like that) in Eschborn.

Now, I am relying on your Wisdom to guide me through this mess. What do you suggest me to do? Has anyone had any experience with it?

I highly appreciate your kind help in advance.
Best,
M

Dear MAN,

please just ignore them, don't write to them at all.
here is a copy of an article from K-tipp, the Swiss consumer protection group, it is in German but basically says, do not have any communication with these people even if they say they bring in an "Inkasso" company.
Again, just ignore, they have no power to do anything to you.

Dubiose Internetangebote: Rechnung keinesfalls bezahlen!
Philipp Schwarz

Re: Nachbarschaft24 scam

It's a pain with all these fraudsters out there... Unless I'm sure of the site, I wouldn't submit my usual e-mail address - it's real easy to set up a hotmail address to use for these occations and subsequently discard when the spam starts arriving.

Also, for some reason, I'm never quite honest about age and address when registering. Even here on the trustworthy English Forum, I've supplied a sligthly photoshopped picture of myself in order to remain anonymous (in fact, my natural hair colour is blond, which sort of alters the impression somewhat).
