SUNRISE FREEDOM MAX - anyone have this mobile contract. Feedback sought.

I am seriously thinking about getting the Sunrise Freedom Max mobile contract, bit pricey I know but it suits my overseas work arrangements.
  • Has anyone got this contract?
  • How often do you call EU countries with it?
  • How often do you use it whilst in EU countries?
  • How reliable is the service in the EU countries in terms of network and in particular mobile internet?

It also says unlimited incoming calls when abroad (EU) - does this mean anyone in Switzerland with unlimited calls to Swiss numbers including mobiles, such as my home Swisscom land line, could call my Sunrise mobile for free when I am in the EU? I.e. my wife at home in Switzerland when I am working in Europe. In theory it is possible and would definitely swing the Freedom Max contract in my favour as keeping in touch when I am away from home is a major hassle.

Cheers, any feedback appreciated.

Sorry to jump on an old thread, but did you end up getting this subscription? Am also considering it now that I've learned Salt has terrible coverage in my area.

Sunrise has without any doubt, the worst reputation for customer service. Don't be surprised when you lose money or many weeks of service with them!

Odd, your link (well, the actual survey at https://en.comparis.ch/telecom/mobil...e/hitlist.aspx) says explicitely that Orange (Salt) is the worst.

Aldi and Migros get "Good", all the rest get "Satisfactory" apart from Orange which gets "Adequate".

My experience of Sunrise has been good. Orange were indeed dreadful, Swisscom OK.

Re: SUNRISE FREEDOM MAX - anyone have this mobile contract. Feedback sought.

I once upon a time had all my stuff with Sunrise, when I moved I cancelled the contract per registered letter, to a fixed date, the end of October. Sunrise stopped the mobile signal 2 weeks before the contract ended, and cut off the TV / Internet one week before the date.

I was furious, I really needed a mobile telephone when trying to move house! I called Sunrise and complained, they said they would look into it. I never received any compensation, they didn't switch anything back on again, and never communicated again with me.

Would I recommend Sunrise ever again? Would you? I am now with Cablecom.

Re: SUNRISE FREEDOM MAX - anyone have this mobile contract. Feedback sought.

I have been with Sunrise for few years now and been happy with them. Originally people warned about the coverage but funnily enough it has been my workophone with Swisscom that has failed me more often. Only thing to nag about was the waiting time when added the Sunrise TV...however dont think any Swiss service provider, furniture store or similar is any better.

I have their Freedom connection too and have found it works for me. You really need to do your own maths on this, on the days of skype / whatsappcalls you might find it cheaper just to have another connection.

Thanks for the replies. I have already learned that I need Sunrise coverage (over Salt at least) so I'll look into it a bit more if I end up going with Sunrise directly, or possibly over another provider that uses the Sunrise network.

TBH it's a low bar in the Swiss telecoms area to be better than one of the main incumbents.

- I had the same problem with Orange, cutting me off and sending an extra month bill
- Sunrise billed me on the wrong contract type, despite their online system showing the correct one
- Swisscom didn't release my number, and sent me a letter saying I hadn't notified them in time - with a copy of my correctly dated letter, with their arrival stamp also showing it was in time
- Cablecom never reply to any support issues in less than a week, and messed up our address move, but on the whole have been ok-ish

So scores - Orange -3 Swisscom -2 Sunrise -1 Cablecom 0

Dumb or dumber really.

Edit: of course the other factor is Swisscom prices score -99
