Youtube no longer accessible on Philips Smart TV

Hello all,

since some days Youtube is no longer accessible on my Philips Smart TV.
They have announced this shutdown beforehand, so it's not a surprise.

I use UPC Cablecom. Some of you should have the same problem. Is there a workaround for this?

Walter

Re: Youtube no longer accessible on Philips Smart TV

Youtube has started (they started at the end of April) to switch off access to an "old method" of these devices connecting to their youtube service (something about not able to display the adverts J)

Only way around it is hope Philips release an upgrade for your TV (unlikely) or user another device and connect that, to your TV (for example a google chromecast box or an apple TV)

Those technically minded, and wishing to know more, can read more about it here:

Re: Youtube no longer accessible on Philips Smart TV

The YouTube App on my old 2nd Gen iPod Touch doesn't work anymore either.

(I just read Pat's link so understand why now but it's a bit of a pain).

For what it's worth, for iPads, iPod Touch devices etc which don't support ios7, m.youtube.com works with Safari to allow YouTube access.

You could buy a Chromcast stick. More info here
