New phone ideas please

If you were to buy a new mobile today for a) over 400 CHF, and b) under 400 CHF, which models would you choose, and why ? Thanks in advance for your answers - having trouble deciding.

Re: New phone ideas please

Buy a cheaper used smart phone on Ricardo or Ebay. Stick your name & address inside the battery compartment. Nobody will steal it, and if you lose it, it might even find it's way back to you.

Next, get on with your life, acquire the confidence to live without the very latest exports from the far east. You will be richer and happier.

And what gives you the right to assume that I dont have the confidence to live without the latest exports from the far east, or that I have the need to be richer or happier ?

FYI, my (smashed) phone is 5 years old, and obsolete.

Re: New phone ideas please

Picked up an LGG4 the other day and it's excellent! Under 400CHF I'd get a OnePlus One or LG G3

Thanks, Porsch. What do you like about these phones ?
LG G4 feels lovely in the hand. Has a nice curve to it. Lovely leather back. Non obtrusive skin for the OS. Excellent battery life and awesome camera.

OnePlus one is just sheer bang for buck. It doesn't really compete with the big boys anymore and customer service isn't great. Battery life is excellent. Can get 5 hours SOT.

Re: New phone ideas please

i have an xperia z3 compact and i'm very happy with it, but with insurance because it has glass both front and back and i read it breaks, it fell a few times not broken. in theory you can bring it underwater, dust resistant, feels nice in hand and the glass is surprisingly grippy at least with my hands, battery good, system very good the xperia is the android with less bloatware and the integrated apps are nice.

Re: New phone ideas please

If I were to buy a phone now, regardless of the price range, I'd go for Xperia Z3 Compact

Battery life, compactness, good camera - it's the only "mini" version of the flagships that wasn't ruined by being converted to "mini"

Thank you, I now see your problem. If you don't give all the facts, how would anyone assume your phone is "smashed"

I am still happy with my old Blackberry, it works fine. When it dies I will buy another second hand phone, maybe a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact !!

What I wanted to say was, why buy the latest phone with all the gadgets, on a two year contract, when good used phones do the job just as well.

Re: New phone ideas please

Thanks for your reply. My present phone is second-hand. I dont actually have a contract, but pay cash for my phones and use PAYG. Cheaper that way!
However, I would like a large screen, and a decent camera this time round.

Re: New phone ideas please

I´m using an >>Acer Liquid e700<< right now.

It´s a pretty basic Android-phone, crappy camera actually.

What I like: Triple-SIM, and the SIMs all work simultaneously. No more need to carry two phones, not even during holidays where an additional local SIM provides data
