You can watch it on YouTube today. I got stuck at work last night and listened to it early this morning while driving 2+ hours to a client. Some of the stuff I heard...I did not know whether to laugh, cry, or both.
I think we should just weaken the office of the POTUS. Its way too easy for someone to get elected for all the wrong reasons. These "candidates" are unbearable to watch.

If anyone watched it, how did Carly do? I think I will be voting for her.

I don't know what's worse: yet another Bush, or a guy with a cat on the head...

Among what was out there, she is actually not the worst by any length. I find her to be very articulate and true to her beliefs, and I thought she presented her positions in a balanced manner.

I like her stance on Iran and introducing performance-based metrics for federal employees. I don't share at all her stance about same-sex marriage, abortion, and "god this, god that" in the political debate, and I can't agree with her stance on health care and environment issues. However, if the choice was between her and Mr. T - and most of the others - I guess I'd take her

Re: Can we watch the US Republican debate tonight?

Most of her "late" years at HP consisted of layoffs, AFAIK.
While that would in theory not be a bad thing for most governments, it's usually the wrong people who get the pink slip (and the wrong ones to stay).

The best thing about her would probably be the party you'd throw when she finally leaves...

Her past with HP has made every geek out there hate her. And she was Romney's 2012 economic adviser/spokesperson, which didn't do her much favours. She did well in the second tier debate but that was because a) it's second tier b) first tier aren't looking presidential at all at this stage. Expect her to be in the first ten group in September when the next debate is due.

One thing I do give credit to the Republican Party is to have a REALLY diverse group of candidates this time around, and the field is quite open so long as you don't take Trump's money. The Democrats aren't looking so diverse this time round.

It better be a Vision Thing that propels the leaders, America badly needs it.

Re: Can we watch the US Republican debate tonight?

Spending the time to watch both debates made me more stupid. Most of them looked like used car salesmen. Trump is not even a conservative, he's really a liberal. If he carries on this way, he'll assist in Hillary's election.

With all of them, they will say whatever they feel like they need to in order to get to the next round. I like the Carly story, and how it harkens to the Thatcher story. I really liked Thatcher's leadership. But Carly's response to the Government vs. Private interest questions lead me to believe she will say anything for this audience for a 2nd date.

I don't think I could trust any of them, except maybe Carson who admitted he doesn't know everything.

Anyone else cringe any time one of them mentioned "God"? Or was that just me?

Apparently, that voting block is still on the table. I happen to know one or more of these candidates aren't really sympathetic to the Christian Consevatives, meaning they will say ANYTHING at this point to sweep as many demographics as possible. But will surely do somethi g if they would get elected. Sad thing is that nothing that is said in these debates really mean anything, not even from Trump.

Round 2, and Carly barely made it in. I think she's the smartest of the bunch, and has nerves of steel. I suspect her poll numbers will bump up.
