Yes. Apple is very good for overpricing their products.
Is Apple Swiss? Didn't know.

3D touch looks interesting, I'm sure some of the new shortcuts in iOS 9 could still be used by a non 3D touch screen.

For example touch and drag down. I'm sure Android UI designers will solve this nicely.

Re: Today's exciting news from Apple

Hi,

so all the rumours were correct Apple did announce:

1 Surface RT ---now running IOS and more expensive
2 Google Now---but called Siri
3 Amazon Fire TV box--but running IOS and more expensive
4 Huawei Mate S for the force touch for called IOS 9 with 3D touch

Steve Jobs must rolling in his grave. At least they gave the pretence of innovation whilst he was in charge...not any more.

Have fun

Pressure sensitive displays are nothing new, WACOM probably has the claim on that. However why it will succeed with Apple is because it will be properly thought out and executed. At the end of the day its all about execution and refinement and I'm sorry to say but looking at Huawei's offering its not looking very promising.

For a start its only available on their top of the range 'Luxury' model with 128 GB which means it will probably be buggy as hell based on the low user base. Secondly since its not integrated into the Google OS, it'll probably feel half baked, suck up too much resource and be likely to crash all the time.

Finally because Huawei probably does't have a department of Human Interaction (or whatever bullshit terms Apple like to use), it will probably be designed by teams of engineers, particularly rigid and intolerant of stupid users and their stupid ways of interacting with technology (e.g. what happens if I try and unlock my phone with my nose?? Kabooom!!!!).

Its been said time and again, its not about being first. Its about doing it right.

Surprised that there is not thread about it yet.

What will Apple announce:
- a watch with 20% more battery capacity
- an iPad where you can choose the color of the charger
- a bigger iPhone
- or a smaller one

Anyone else curious?

- iPhone with new cutting edge battery technology allowing extended operation by 150-200%.

I'm not interested in battery charger colour. As far as I'm concerned, it can be pink or magnet. What matters to me is that they extend the battery life on those amazing devices. Somewhat annoyed with recharging 2-3 times a day after regular usage. Given that, I don't don't wanna turn off location services and notifications. I like to read incoming new FB likes and comments

I think I could succumb to iPhone 6S+ propelled by mini generator in my pocket

Re: Today's exciting news from Apple

Hi.

Castro: Apple execution is reason that I don't buy their products. Others do it much better, with more flexibility and at a more reasonable price. I don't really care about force touch on either device.

Also I hope the future of tv is good tv programmes. I don't play games on any device I own so that feature is totally irrelevant to me.

Have fun

Martin

My wife is an early Apple adopter but she is coming around to the idea that having to do everything through iTunes is just incredibly painful.

She was amazed when on an Android phone how easy it was to open up the folder structure and just drag and drop media files from my PC on to it - without having to spend twenty minutes first working out how to do it as I would with iTunes. Sure there are work-arounds with Apple but why can't it do what I want to begin with?

You buy them all the time Martin! Then you find something wrong with them and move on.

Re: Today's exciting news from Apple

What is amazing is that Apple have such a loyal following now, that they can just take the best ideas from everyone else and make it a success.

Who cares if Pebble, Samsung had smartwatches 5 years earlier? On day 1 of the Apple Watch launch, they'll end up selling more than than their combined 5 year sales.

Who cares if MS come out and iterate to a good implementation of a cover keyboard, or Wacom carves out a niche in Stylus technology. Through sheer numbers, Apple will be more successful and more profitable.

The best innovation for me was the financial innovation: having an monthly Apple subscription and reversing the carrier lock-in to a device manufacturer lock-in (and the kind only Apple will be able to pull off).

They're not the richest company in the world for nothing, even if things look less rosy for the smartphone/tablet markets.

Re: Today's exciting news from Apple

No. What Apple do it take good ideas / products but then integrate them into a more seamless package than their competitors.

MS might have a nice cover keyboard, but then, you cannot buy it as easily, it is not packed as nicely, it does not install as fluidly, and when it goes wrong you cannot get it serviced or replaced as easily.

It's not actually rocket science. What's more surprising is how so many firms (read 98% here) still don't emulate this approach, and often, don't even try to emulate it!

Re: Today's exciting news from Apple

Hi,

krlock3: Last Apple products owned ipad version 1. Not owned but use corporate iphone dreadful compare to my private Android phone. Manage, my wife's ipad- which means sometimes having to install itunes maiware Apple tv box collecting dust and replaced by Roku and Amazon fire stick.

Still too many Apple devices that I come into contact but they will be not getting any more money from me until they selling something that is better than their competitors and at a sensible price.

Have fun

Martin

and here we have the reality distortion field working its magic. not even seen or touched they keyboard yet, but convinced it is better because it is apple.

as i said. apple has such a loyal following, it doesn't even need to produce the 'best' to succeed.

The reality distortion which most of use tech nerds seem to be in, is believing any of this nonsense actually matters to the average user

Re: Today's exciting news from Apple

After the disappointment of the iPhone 6 I was really hoping Apple would return to a smaller form factor for their iPhones. The iPhone 6 (and I'm not even talking about the 6+) is just unusable as a phone due to it's size. I tried to use it for month but in the end I went back to my 4S, which, apart from not having 128GB, does everything that I want to do just well as the 6, but in a far more usable form factor.

As for the rest - meh. A truly lacklustre new product line up, with some bordering on the plain stupid - Pencil WTF.
