Data Plan Upload Speed

Hellos

Anyone here has an idea regarding the upload speed of a mobile data plan when tagged as "Unlimited"? Ideally using 4G/LTE networks?

I heard from a Salt tech rep on their support line that the download is around 1mb/s but upload he said is undefined, or better, it sounded like he is not allowed to even give a reference. He also said there's not anymore a limit to the amount of data streamed per month.

Yes, I upload videos to Youtube for my job and look fwd to get rid of my land line.

Any hint appreciated!

Re: Data Plan Upload Speed

They cannot say because it depends on the spot and moment you are measuring this.
Why don't you test this yourself with speedtest or something like that?

Unlimited usually means flatrate data, then there are those also unlimited speed (like salt) which means you get the max speed you can get, with others like swisscom you can choose a lower/higher max speed and pay less/more, they list upload speeds around 2 mbit/s.

I didn't ask for the exact figure, just the usual avg they offer for fixed connections...

Obviously cause I don't have one yet, it used to be not-really-unlimited.

I see upload speed reports for 4G at even 5mbs... wish that be true here with the current state of networks (yes, considering you are out of a cell blindspot).

Thanks anyhow for your response Meerkat33!

Yes, I have with Salt (prepaid) but my mobile is an old HTC Desire that doesn't support 4G.

I've been waiting for the moment when "Unlimited" became real.

For Salt and in my experience the upload and the download are normally the same, in Zurich I was getting about 20Mbps on a 3 bar signal.

hope this helps!

Re: Data Plan Upload Speed

I get ~20-30 Mbps now (just run few tests) upload on salt 4G unlimited.

Sometimes (with better weather too) I was able to hit 120Mbit down and >40 up

I use this as home internet (4G usd modem, connected to a rooter and then normal wifi @home) and it's pretty good, and costs only 35/ month without hidden charges of 'line rental' hidden in your NK.
