We could not get away from these Guys fast enough (upc) for TV, www & mobile. Worst service providers We ever had.

I strongly recommend giving upc cablecom a wide berth.
We've had great service from them.
I think it probably depends on where you live as to how good or bad they are.

On the other hand I wouldn't touch Sunrise even if I had a very long barge pole. They were absolutely dreadful.

Ok, EU is cancelling roaming, will Switzerland take part aswell?
I doubt it.

Mobile telecoms in Switzerland has long been grossly uncompetitive. Sunrise and Orange (now Salt) may have entered the market in competition against Swisscom, but unlike other countries they failed to get their networks up to a level that would force them into being more competitive. I suspect a certain amount of price fixing may have also taken place to keep the lucrative status quo going too, with costs here often being ten times those found in Germany, Italy or France (which is boated even by Swiss standards).

There is more competition now than there was ten years ago, as evidenced by many of the recent contracts that have been appearing. Even Swisscom began to offer free SMS in their contracts a few years ago (something you'd have found anywhere in the EU years ago).

However I suspect prices will remain stubbornly high and drop slowly. The opcos here have undoubtedly seen the experience of opcos in the EU who've seen their once obscene margins decimated and will probably want to avoid going down the same road.

But Swiss prices (if you take the SALT offers for example) are already rather low. If I compare that to prices in the Netherlands, I would say Switzerland is cheaper. You can't get unlimited everything for 30 CHF in the Netherlands, more like double that.

Re: Salt Christmas offer, 29/month, all unlimited

Salt Christmas 2016 offer

Plus Basic at half price:

--Unlimited calls in Switzerland
--Unlimited SMS/MMS in Switzerland
--3 GB highspeed Internet (4G+)

19.–/month instead of 39.–

24-month subscription.

This time it seems that the offer is valid for existing customers as well.

The Swiss Plus offer is back on!

CHF29.-/month x 24 months instead of CHF59.-

I also got the multi surf option which costs an additional CHF10.- which is then reduced later because I didnt get a phone... No complaints there! Now I can max that unlimited data too!

This really seems to be a good offer. It's not much more than what I've been paying on a Swisscom prepaid. Are there any drawbacks to the Salt service? I'm primarily in the Zurich area.

I would check with any of your neighbours / colleagues who live nearby if there are any coverage issues in your area.

I personally haven't had any issues as such in all the time I've been with them and previously with Orange. However some colleagues complained that they had some coverage issues where they live, and some bizarre stories about text messages not being received for days after they have been sent, but then again who the hell uses SMS anymore?

Re: Salt Christmas offer, 29/month, all unlimited

Can this be used for video-streaming?

Where I live there is, by chance, good Salt-Coverage, so if possible I´d use this to replace my UPC-connection.

Hi everyone,

I also purchased the bon Plus Swiss with the Christmas deal. On mittowch signed on the website, yesterday they sent me the SIM, today received and instantaneously I checked the coverage.

In my room I have sometimes H+ and sometimes 4G, and I was afraid because of the poor coverage with H+, but not at all. It works very fine.

I have also checked how it works with some devices connected as hotspot and no problem. Like cable connection

I can confirm that it works perfectly with H+ and movies or TV series streaming.

With H+:
Download 7 Mb
Upload 2Mb

With 4g right now while texting
Download 35 Mb
Upload 7Mb

So very happy with the change.

I hope my information was useful

I paid the early cancellation fee of 132 CHF to get this deal, because the 59CHF was 85 CHF before when I signed up in April 2015.

Now 29 CHF for 24 months plus I get a few extras instead of 85 CHF, definitely worth it for me.

Re: Salt Christmas offer, 29/month, all unlimited

Just a note that if you want the multi surf card for the modem, you pay CHF10.-/month extra + the price for the modem.

So the exact details are as follows:

CHF69.-/month for Plus Swiss
CHF10.-/month for multi surf
--------------------
TOTAL: CHF79.-/month

Optional cost:
- Modem: CHF60.- one off cost (I didn't get this as I already had their previous Alcatel modem
- Tablet: You can get various up-sells here for tablets from Apple and Huawei.

Discounts:
CHF10.-/month for 24 months for contracts without a new device
CHF30.-/month for 24 months Special Christmas discount.

Total: CHF39.-/month + Optional one-off cost for modem CHF60.-

Re: Salt Christmas offer, 29/month, all unlimited

BTW I saw the same Salt Swiss package, devoid of any roaming and international deals for 9.90 CHF/month the other day in Oerlikon in front of a Salt shop.

It might be limited to youth under 26, or you might have a 15-yr contract to pay, but for unlimited Switzerland, isn't 10 chuffs worth it?

It's unlimited calls to Salt Mobiles in Switzerland only.

You get 30 mins a month to other networks + landline.
