CBeebies on Swisscom

Hi there

We have TV through Swisscom, and have been regular watchers of the BBC CBeebies channel.

At some point over the last 2 days it seems to have disappeared though. It still shows up on the channel list (even after resetting the box to factory settings), and the TV Guide still shows what should be on, but in fact you can only see the holding screen for BBC4 (note - when CBeebies goes off the air at 8pm, BBC4 is shown on the same channel. This is the same as in the UK).

Has anyone else had the same problem, and if so have you managed to solve it?

Otherwise any ideas? Talk to Swisscom about it??

Any ideas gratefully received.

Did you try fast forwarding? I have Swisscom too. On the BBC channels that go off/on air the first few minutes are sometimes a test pattern/service not available in your area.

If you have the channel on your replay list you can go back and check the program from yesterday.

I see this too. It's bbc4 wait screen even looking at any previous times as well.

I think we'll need to ring Swisscom.

Re: CBeebies on Swisscom

We are on GGA MAUR and the same has happened to us. We contacted them and they did a manual reset but no joy....mystery. They have no idea themselves (useful) so we are waiting.

Any one else had this?

Re: CBeebies on Swisscom

I just added the channel to my list this morning and it seems to be ok now. Over the last couple of weeks I have noticed a few oddities with respect to UK channels, Partway through a program the content just stops and a "This content not available" error, and programs appearing in the guide which are either mislabeled, or the slot shown in the guide is exceedingly long.

My Swisscom TV is normally stable, but I've restarted the TV box about 3 times in the last 10 days or so because it stopped responding. I suspect that either Swisscom or the content suppliers have made some changes and something went pear shaped.

My wife says people on Facebook groups are also publicizing it so looks like it's a across the board. You'd expect Swisscom to pick up on it soon.

Re: CBeebies on Swisscom

Thanks for all the feedback. I've heard a rumour that it is something to do with the BBC freeing up channels for their Olympic coverage. I'm not sure this makes much sense, as I'm sure CBeebies is still being broadcast in the UK. They could gain a channel by using one for CBeebies and BBC4, and not using the dedicated BBC4 channel, but currently they just have 2 x BBC4 (4 if you count the non-HD channels).

I have a friend who works in transmission for the BBC, I'll drop him a line and try and find out if this is a likely scenario.

Re: CBeebies on Swisscom

Strange... We have Cablecom and on the listings BBC4 has disappeared and CBeebies is in its place.
The BBC4 programmes still seem to be there though, but I haven't checked thoroughly.

Spoke to Swisscom who are just as mystified as us. Their tv department she assumed would fix it soon but they had or idea why it wasn't theremand ordeal idea how to fix it. If it's going out from the bbc,we should be receiving it she said.

I checked for you as well. Same story. The channel is there, I can select the program. Also Swisscom 2.0

And when I do. This happens.

Re: CBeebies on Swisscom

Hank Zipser is on CBBC rather than CBeebies. CBBC is aimed at older kids.

I see the same.

Two different channels. Cbeebies and CBBC.

Ah. This is the sort of knowledge that evaporates when your children grow up.

Re: CBeebies on Swisscom

Thank you, this is very helpful and makes total sense. Shame Swisscom couldn't provide this information when I called, they just asked me to restart my box! Will now try and find non HD CBeebies on Swisscom (if it exists). My daughter can't wait until the end of the Olympics for her Raa Raa the Noisy Lion and Twirlywoos fix!

Re: CBeebies on Swisscom

Just a quick update. I have found the CBeebies non HD channel and added it to my channel list. Although a separate channel, this doesn't work either.
