You are right sorry.
And you: what do you have, what do you advice ?
What about the VoIP ?
If you have the chance to install Fiber7 (the 1gbps offer) than do it without looking back. I use it only for internet... don't need TV and never had a problem.
To reach that 1gbps you will need some proper hardware (fast PC/notebook). I have almost everything on wire (LAN) at home and thats how I take advantage of the 1gbps. For wireless... you will never achieve this .

To reach that speed you just need to have any average laptop with a 1Gbit ethernet connection. Having a 'fast' PC/notebook has nothing to do with it.

Depends what you define with average .
It needs a good CPU (i5/i7 not the latest but not sure if an i3 will handle this) and for sure an SSD. Thats it you want to get at least 900mpbs and sustain it for some time.

You do not need an i5, i7 or SSD to download data at speeds provided by Gigabit ethernet... where are you pulling these figures from?

The theoretical limit of Gigabit is 125MB/s, but real-world speeds will be around 30MB/s or less. This is significantly below the speeds a mechanical hard drive can process, and puts little actual strain on the CPU.

Never say never with anything digital. It's only about 15 years ago that 256kb ADSL got introduced here.

Well... go ahead an try it for yourself. I say an i5 and SSD is needed for 1gbps.

@Urs: you are right but for the moment it is pretty hard to achieve that.

You saying it doesn't make it true. An i3 would be perfectly fine for Gigabit internet if the laptop has sufficient RAM (8GB ideally for larger files). You will rarely, if ever, get the maximum theoretical speed from a gigabit connection even in the best of circumstances.

Re: Fiber7

I look at fiber7 exactly because we can have only internet. I don't like the packages, probably you too. I use only TNT.
I asked question about VoIP because you know better than me that end 2017 analogic phones will be stopped.
fiber7 doesn't offer (correct me if I am wrong) phone solution.
Therefore, I suppose I should find a VoIP provider and make another contract.
I suppose you will do it also ?
