Well, in the first year anyway.....Switch now don't charge a 40 franc setup fee - just 35 francs per year for your domain.

So if you were holding off because the whole 75 franc payment made you sick (or you bought the $8.99 .com) then you're in luck...

Just for the record - did a huge pile of .ch last night at precisely 12:01am... I'm all for reductions in the .ch domain - they are still really expensive compared to TLDs. They say they can pass on the price savings due to an increased number of domains and a more efficient registration process - I'll vote to that - the old one was awful!

I'd like to see them go further with that move and bring the yearly price down to say 20 francs. They could make this possible by no longer sending out paper based invoices, mahnungs, etc and just make everything credit card only. Except that the average Swiss business would probably have a fit - but hey they could offer the old paper based way at 35, and reduced price for the electronic only version. Maybe it will happen in a few years.

Darn! I wish I would have read this thread a few minutes earlier. I just paid 46 euro (around 72 francs) to register a .ch website because the normal price with my provider was 82 euro and I thought that was a bargain for a .ch name. Now that I see I could have gotten it through SWITCH for 35 francs I could s*%@ myself. That would have been 2 years for the price of 1 compared to what I paid. Oh well.... live and learn. Grrrrrrr... At least my bandwidth is cheap.

I always register my domains directly, I don't know - I just don't like the idea of a third party ISP doing it for me...

news just in: from October 1st, 27 francs (down from 35) is the cost of the domain per annum

And I just registered 3 domains a week ago. DOOHHH!!!

http://www.switch.ch website says 27 CHF price is from Nov not from Oct. Further www.diltech.in gives domain and website for free.

They got the months muddled! The charge is now CHF27.00. Your loves Flash and hates search engines... And it's gone - probably for the best.

Which site do you reccomend for buying .ch domain name (ENGLISH website please)? I have my own host so just need to buy CH domains.
