Another question about Satellite receivers

Hello

I bought this "unknown" receiver from interdiscount, advertised for hotbird (13 E) and astra (19E).

I managed to set it up and it is working fine.

Now I want to use 9.0E Eurobird 9.

The problem is that in the receiver setup, it starts with hotbird as first satellite , and I did not manage to find an option to add a new satellite.

I did google for receiver called "SER" but no luck.

Thanks

Not sure how help can be offered here without the name of the satellite receiver. Can you give some more details?

well the only label on the receiver is

SER

I googled it but did not find anything ?

It was one of those "cheap" bargains on inter discount

No sticker with model / serial number? No manufacturer on the box? I can't find anything relevant on Google under SER either. Is there any manual with it, that should have a manufactuer name on it at least. Any guarantee?

Re: Another question about Satellite receivers

well I looked again, ONLY thing on receiver is

SER K10-VXXXX

Googling with that strings yields no results either. Perhaps I will visit interdiscount this weekend and find out about the product (if they still are selling it)

I was wondering if one can tune into a specific satellite without explicitly adding the satellite in the receiver i.e. I saw some where that satellites can "steal" channels from other satellites as well.

So say if I direct my dish to cover range 7 E - 13 E , and set both LNB to hotbird then LNB1 (7E) shall be able to get channels for Eurobird 9E ? will this (or a similiar setup) work ?

Re: Another question about Satellite receivers

Have you tried asking Interdiscount if this reciever will support other sattelite positions? If not you may have to try and take it back and buy another receiver.

SER might just be short for serial number since it seems that is what follows.

Re: Another question about Satellite receivers

well went to inter discount today. And found that the "full name" of the receiver is "Univers Sat"

Anyways, I gave up the idea of adding a satellite to this one, as I dont think I will keep this one for long.

Instead, configured it to use Astra at 28E. Strange thing is that - when using my monoblock LNB- I could only get signal if I use LNB2.

I am using direction information from dishpointer.com, and then in order to use LNB2 for Astra I am sort of offsetting it with 6 degrees in order to use LNB2 from my monoblock.

I am getting almost all channels that I wanted to get, except that I still can not see ITV and BBC etc.

I still think that dish is not correcly pointed, but since I am getting most of the channels that I wanted to so I dont really care much.

Re: Another question about Satellite receivers

Not sure what you mean.

If this is a Monoblock set at 6.2 degrees (for 13.0 & 19.2) and you now use this this for Astra 2 (28.x) then the second LNB will be 6.2 +/- 28.x (depending which is aimed at 28.x).

I assume this monoblock just has a single output? If yes, this will contain a switch to allow a box to select LNB 1 or 2. This means the decoder needs to be setup to do this via DiSeQ codes.

If there is more than one output, often Input 1 has to be active (receive power) to drive the switch and second LNB.

NOt sure if this answers your Q.

If you are getting Some Astra 2 channels but not BBC, ITV etc.. you eitehr need to fine tune the dish or have a bigger setup as these channels are on a more focussed footprint which we are on the edge of.

See previous posting with footprints of Astra 2D
