What are the big retailers for home audio and video in Geneva area? Does internet shopping for these things exist in Switzerland?

I've also successfully used

for some computer stuff. Ended up ordering it on line, it wasn't as simple and easy as in the US but worked out pretty well in the end.

What an old thread I am bumping!

At work, an over-enthusiastic cleaner broke one of the cores to my Sennheiser headphones. So now it is running on left channel only.

I want to chop off the 3.5mm plug and solder on another one.

But I cannot find such a thing online. Lots of 6.3mm to 3.5mm converters and extension cables, etc. But I just want the plug so I can solder it to my headphones. Worst comes to worst I can buy an extension cable and use a connection block, but I don't want to stoop so low.

I tried all the above links as well as google searching the forum and checking conrad.ch and pearl.de, even ebay.ch. I must be missing a trick. Can anyone help?

Conrad definitely sell these, I bought some from there. No idea what they'd be called to find it online, but they had a whole range of mono and stereo jacks. They also do all the regular home electronics stuff you might find at maplins, soldering irons and so forth.

I admit I stuck to ebay.ch - I find it easier it general, as many times I find a seller won't deliver to CH, or charges a lot to do so.

I couldn't justify the time going all the way to Conrad, only to find they didn't have any in stock, or at all

So my male 3.5mm plugs arrived.

I broke out my new soldering iron to replace the headphones plug and another job. The solder that was included with the iron won't stick to anything, including the tip of the iron. Just rolls up into a ball.

It's a long time since the last time I used a soldering iron, and that was in the UK. But even then most solder was self-fluxing.

Are any of these items self-flux solder wire, or do I have to order something else?

You could try Distrelec. We use them at work for IT supplies but they have a whole home electronics section on their website. I'm guessing what you're after is in this section?
