Eurosport in English

Am thinking of getting the cablecom digital basic package (with recorder). Am a huge fan of tennis and find eurosport to be really good for this. It's listed in the basic package but I'm not sure which language. Is there anyone out there who has this package and can advise me? Also what are the local Basel channels like for showing tennis or other sports?

cheers for any info

Owl

Re: Eurosport in English

If you can't get Eurosport in English on your TV, then you can always watch the video on the TV with the sound turned off while getting the English audio thru the eurosport website (you may need to run some cable from your PC to a stereo next to the TV to make this a convenient option). The only downside to this is that the audio has a significant delay of up to 30 seconds. This isn't too bad for watching sports like cycling where things don't change too fast, but it is a little annoying for some other sports. However, you do get the pleasure of always feeling smarter than the commentators because you know what is hapenning before it appears that they do.

Re: Eurosport in English

Thanks to you all for the advice. It's good to know that I can hopefully get the English commentary (with or without radio assistance ).

Re: Eurosport in English

We've only got bog standard "council telly" but can watch Eurosport in English using the "magic" button.

If you have a stereo telly you can watch quite a lot of stuff in English as the stations broadcast programmes in both languages. No need for any extra fancy gadgets.

Re: Eurosport in English

We're currently thinking about getting TV through Bluewin, but we really need Eurosport in English, or at least French. Their website says they only have the German version, so can anyone confirm that the dual audio is also broadcast by Bluewin so that we can listen to the English feed (we want to watch the Tour de France in English next month). Thanks in advance for any info.

Press the 'options' button on your handset and scroll down the language menu to ORG (ie, Original) which may - or may not - provide you with English. Usually it's automagically English on mine.

On the theme of sport on the telly, did anyone follow the magnificent Sailing Channel show 'Adriatica', documenting life on board an Italian trans-Atlantic yacht? Now it's finished I'm left all lonesome...

It perfectly captured the spirit of cruising (no, not that sort) with it's shaggy dog stories, search for fish and night-time star gazing. Beautiful.

If anyone knows anything about it I'd love to learn more.
