Streaming TV over cablecom hispeed

Is anyone out there aware that there is now free streaming TV over the internet via www.hispeed.ch? It is much better quality than zattoo but the choice of channels is currently limited...

Re: Streaming TV over cablecom hispeed

Looks like the correct URL is:

http://www.hispeed.ch/Movies___TV/

(the select a channel from the bottom)

Looks good - don't have to download any clients and it runs straight in the browser.

I still hate Cablecom and glad to see that they are obviously feeling the heat from zattoo....

The quality is superb at least from where I am 1.5Mbs which is what they are aiming to have for their VOD service... If it looks poor on your monitor it is probably your monitor By the way there should be 50 channels by the end of March...

Looked absolutely fine to me. The resolution was full size and the loss of quality through compression looks no different to the loss of quality suffered over many satellite channels.

At 1.5Mbps almost every cablecom subscriber should have more than enough bandwidth to view it with no problem at all (except the really cheap plan which I'm sure nobody has anyway). That is of course if the cablecom subscriber doesn't live somewhere where he isn't getting the speed he pays for (due to poor performance on his local segment)

So I guess the big question is will Cablecom give us back the channels it has been taking away from analogue (like BBC Prime). If they'd put these channels on the internet for free a few months ago they might not have caused such an uproar!

Silly question. but do you have to be a subscriber to Cablecom to access this service?

Nickj - I see you are not a cablecom subscriber. So in answer to your question - what happened when you clicked the link?

If it worked - then the answer to your question is no.
If it didn't work - then the answer to your question yes.

Re: Streaming TV over cablecom hispeed

well it didn't work when I clicked the link, it asked me for log in details. I was wondering if anyone can get a username or is it somehow connected to the cablecom subscription?
I know I've just about answered my question but wasn't sure if it was available to outsiders .

Re: Streaming TV over cablecom hispeed

These kind of developments will probably signify the start of Billag charging for people with only computers in the house and no tv, as they said they would charge this way as soon as availability of receiving tv over the internet would match the technology .

addition: Cablecom subscription is required, and at a minimum of 2000 kb/sec too, so anyone at lower speeds cannot access this site...like me.
