I'm a Sunrise voice customer and I'm considering their ADSL or 'sunrise ADSL talk&more'. The latter gives you free calls to the fixed network during certain hours. I saw in the fine print that with talk&more they "lend" you an "Integrated Access Device", which is currently is a 'Zyxel Prestige 2602R'. I wondered if I could use my 'Zyxel Prestige 660HW' wireless router/modem, so I contacted Sunrise via their web site to ask. The reply I got (in French below) says I "should" use their combined ADSL/VOIP device and that my 660HW can no longer be used since it's not recommended. They also said that it's possible to connect a 'wireless-accesspoint' to their 'Zyxel Prestige 2602R', thus creating a wireless network. Anyone have a similar experience with Sunrise?

I have that Zyxel, the 660 hw, problem is it has no voip. However, I call landlines free at any time using this modem, I just use my pc and use voipdiscount, as calling any landline in switzerland is free, as well as many other countries. I just paid them 10 euro which I don't use, only when I need to call mobiles.

Not sure if that helps but Sunrise screwed me big time, I am just pointing out you may not need their offer, unless you want VOIP through your modem . Does that new device not have wireless? If not, you are downgrading in truth as I think having to buy an access point is stupid. I know because in my infinite wisdom (not) I went to cable, and wanted to use the 660hw to act as a wireless access point but you cannot becuase it does not have an upload ethernet port. See post I made that Mark answered on cable router wireless (three keywords). So I had to buy an access point, and I hate unnecessary consumerism. Sorry bit of a rant here.

Im a recent custober since beginning of this Feb to sunrise adsl. They initially sent me the wrong modem as it wasn't wireless and now they said they will send as i specified the 'Zyxel Prestige 660HW' wireless router/modem'. So I think you'll have no problems with using your existing modem. Cant comment on voip as I haven't looked into this yet. Deal I have includes free swiss fixed line calls for 12 months.

You say they "will send" the 660HW, so does that mean that you're not using it yet?

How did you get the 12 months free deal? They're only offering 6 months now (according to the web site) for a 12-month contract. Is your contract more than 12 months?

Just waiting for it to be delivered. Regarding the free fixed network calls. If I remember correctly I had to subscribe before the end of 2006 - pretty sure of this.

I tested (free 1 minute) one of the other Betamax brands (Voipbuster) and found that the party on the other end of the line couldn't hear me at all. I've also heard of unauthorized credit card charges by Betamax (see comments on http://www.myvoipprovider.com/blogcategory/Betamax/). Did you have any problems with them?

Hmm, no haven't yet, but thanks for the heads up, I will keep a good eye on them! When the other party did not hear you (which I never had and I have been calling everywhere overseas), are you sure it is not your pc, because you need to enable your microphone boost in the audio setup.

One thing I forgot, you only have 100 free days I think after that you pay but it is not much, I think a few cts / minute.

But to the guy who also has the zyxel, if you don't use voip through the plug on your modem, yes it works, but the poster here wants this kind of setup.
