NHL Playoffs??

Hi everyone,

Just arrived earlier this month from Canada and now that the NHL regular season is winding down, I was wondering if anyone knows of a bar/pub/restaurant that shows NHL games and would be showing playoff games? I need to get out and cheer on the Canadian contingent (although unfortunately minus the Sens)

I personally don't/won't have a TV but would also take suggestions for streaming possibilities.

Ciao.

Re: NHL Playoffs??

Welcome to CH from another canuck.

NHL can be streamed on pc if you have some good connections.

I know of a bar in Bern but none in Zurich that have "global sports" running.
Do a search for "sports bars Zurich" in google if you can. Otherwise check your phone book.

Re: NHL Playoffs??

NHL in Europe is streamed LIVE through ESPN America (ESPN 360 in Europe).

https://europe.espn360.com/

The playoff pass is 54 CHF (this includes rest of season, ALL playoff games, and the cup final). Every year there is an early bird price of 144 CHF which INCLUDES the playoffs (purchase before season starts).

They have low quality streams and high quality streams (depending on your connection). All games are EST.

Works on MAC and PC.

Re: NHL Playoffs??

Thanks for the info.!

I came across that ESPN online package and I'm thinking about it. Of course the major barrier (as always with anything broadcast live from NA) is the time difference. Anything on the east coast would be on mid morning here, but west coast games might actually be early morning. A good way to start the day perhaps...

Re: NHL Playoffs??

I watch the games through a couple of naughty sites. Now it's play-off time, should be able to get fairly decent feeds. Watched a reasonable feed of the Pens - Flyers game last night but it kept stalling, probably because a lot of people were on it.

So, predictions for this year? Any upsets?

Oh and I cannot wait for the Boston - Montreal game tonight!!!

Re: NHL Playoffs??

Hey Mikey, perhaps you can PM along those sites you were speaking of.

As a Canadian with the Sens elminated I'm definitely cheering on the remainder of the contingent (Flames, Canucks and Habs). I like the Canucks making a deep run, especially if the Sharks go out early (Hillier had a nice game the other night - Swiss note of the day). However, I think the Red Wings ae still the team to beat in the West. The Flames series is going to be tight, but I like the experience if the Flames to bring it out in 7.

In the East, Boston's depth is good, but I'm hoping for a long series between them and the Habs (especially after the post-game scuffle the other night). I mean MTL collapsed over the last half of the season, so they certainly aren't riding high coming in. I also like the Pens to beat the Flyers (Fleury was astounding last night, he saved the game with that toe save on Carter) and the Rangers to knock off the Caps (if that is truly an upset...).
