Do you pay your Billag?

Hi all,

I’ve heard lots of different stories about paying the Billag (TV license fee). Basically, it’s a must now. TV over the internet, radio in the car, your alarm clock or even on your mobile phone, they’ve got you somewhere! However, I know lots of people who don’t pay this and was wondering what the general feeling was. So just as a random question to add some entertainment to a Friday afternoon, here we go…

Do you pay your Billag?

Re: Do you pay your Billag?

As I don't have a TV I don't pay them. I think they could still get me as my car obviously has a radio, as well as my old alarm clock.

For every joker who doesn't pay Bill AG, those who do have to pay more (eventually one way or another).

The sooner it's in the taxes the better, so all who pay tax will contribute...

Nearly covers everyone working... so yes I am waiting too then.

Although no more admiring the "brave" guys bragging how he dodges the Billag bullet, which I still think is suicidal.

Re: Do you pay your Billag?

I have radios, so I pay the radio tax, no question.

I do not own a television, nor do I have a subscription to a service providing internet TV - I do not watch television, full stop. Therefore I am not obliged to pay the TV tax.

Yet.

And Billag agrees. So far.

I'm sure that they will someday soon find a way to rope in the few of us who legitimately do not pay the tax. When that happens I'll pay it, teeth tightly gritted. But until then...

Re: Do you pay your Billag?

I don't want to do anything illegal. I don't even know what you are talking about. We get our TV from our Slingbox which is hooked up to our TV at home in the US. We don't have cable or anything like that here.

I think my husband's company car has a functioning radio. Do you think that the Billag is paid for by his company?

If there is something that I need to be paying, please give me some advice before the Gendarme come and get me!

Re: Do you pay your Billag?

Hi,

I have been paying it for 20 years and I have never really thought about it. I sometimes watch swiss tv and so it is no big deal. We also get uk tv over the cable and sometimes I do feel guilty getting the bbc channels with out having to pay a tv licence. It amuses me in the uk when I see people complaining about how expensive the uk tv licence is and then will spend pay an incredible amount of money for a sky subscription and even after that they still have to endure tv advertising between the programmes.

I am happy to pay the billag licence fee it ensures that the majority of the country get the tv they want in the language they want.

Have fun

Martin

Then you must pay the TV licence fee, as you have a TV.

Unlikely. You will need to pay the Radio licence fee yourself.

Remember, if you have a TV of any sort, and are capable of watching TV, you must pay the TV licence fee.

Likewise for radio: if you have a radio of any sort, you must pay the radio licence fee.
