Hi, there doesn't appear to be any recent posts on this topic.
I move to Switzerland in 2 days and need to sort a mobile phone out asap. I have a partner in UK so will be calling/texting quite regularly as well as visiting every 2 weeks.
I would prefer a Blackberry/Iphone, but not 100% sure if I should buy one from UK or CH to minimise the costs. I have seen the 1178% numbers you can call to only pay local rates and also Rebtel?? Does anyone use this service? Is it proven??
Is there a fiddle also for incomming call charges?
hi, I've used a prepaid service from unitedmobile.com
They have good plans and best part is - no roaming charges. THey are based in Kloten I believe since I see their logo on a building by the airport.
Rebtel works and is pretty good, but I never took it beyond the free time that you get when signing up so I can't vouch for how it is once you pay.
Be careful with SMS, they will quickly rack up the charges - on my Orange plan, they're .23 rappen a message to send (of course free to receive), and from the UK they're a bit more expensive to send to me here.
wow...you are right...very sorry...I used their sim card when travelling privately at times...have not used it for a while...the correct site is www.united-mobile.com
I use VOIP on a VOIP phone straight through my router. This is subscribed to Tesco VOIP telephone service. Here you can choose a UK telephone number.
All incoming calls to this UK number are coming through for free om my VOIP phone here in Switzerland.
Calls I make to UK over landline cost me currently 2 rappen per minute. (using predial option 0840556612.
