Cablecom issues

Cablecom users out there!!!!
Just wanted to know if anyone of you are expereincing the same thing. Last week i was able to view few channels that were actually not included in my subscription. i was happy as i thought they have added them to the subscription. But for the past two days, even some of the usual channels such as itv 1 and itv 2 and Film 4 were missing. im feeln terrible now. to add to it i have lost my smart card number...

Re: Cablecom issues

They just updated the network. Yesterday I was missing a few channels for a while, but now they are all back with more.

Re: Cablecom issues

We received a mail that they are upgrading their service in April. We experienced some problems last Monday (I guess because they upgraded that day) then Tuesday we actually got a few more channels.

Does snow affect your cable and do you miss the interference due to lack of snow?

more channels? Does anyone still get ITV 1 and 2 and Film 4 or have they been deleted completely?

Re: Cablecom issues

They are still here but on a new frequency. If you got a Cablecom box they
should be there be default. I still can watch them. Else try to do a "Frequenzsuche"

Cablecom opend ALL channels except the two XXX until 17th April or so.

BTW: Your SmartCard number is in your SmartCard Pull it out of the box and write it down.

Re: Cablecom issues

I just cancelled my cablecom abo for July. I was relatively pleased with CC.
One day everything quit working. After calling the help line and hearing over and over and over "We are upgrading", I brought in one of their service people. He hooked up his reciever and his worked. He said mine was defect and it needed to be repaired... 2 weeks later I got my temporary reciever... Then I had the same problem... I called the helpdesk and once again...We are upgrading in your area for the next weeks... So I decided enough was enough.

Re: Cablecom issues

On a slightly different Cablecom "issue" I received my modem last night (after only ordering on Monday - 3 day turnaround is pretty good) and during the installation was told that I couldn't run the modem from the ethernet cable because no network card/LAN connection was present.

It therefore recommended using USB, which I didn't really want to do. Anyway, I got it up and running using USB, but would like to switch it to ethernet for convenience really.

I have a Compaq Evo N1020v laptop, which I naively presumed would come with everything needed to use ethernet. I run windows firewall only, so nothing should be blocking any ethernet connection. As I am by no means technical with computers (above understanding RAM and processors) can anyone recommend the kit I need to switch to ethernet?

I have this nagging suspicion that it should just be ready to go but something was either blocked by the firewall or not being picked up right.

Cheers.

PS: does anyone know where I can get a 2 pin european AC cable for this laptop - my UK one is fine, but once you whack a massive great adaptor on the end it makes it difficult to navigate these Swiss wall sockets!

Re: Cablecom issues

AC cable for laptop :
Try Mediamarkt. I got one for my hp laptop there. You might find adapters for almost all laptop brands there.

Re: Cablecom issues

I gave up with Cablecom. They offer a service at a price I'm quite happy to pay but their customer service is, well, wank.

Whenever anything goes wrong (about 2-3 times a year, not that frequently) it is painful to try to get it working again. What is truely unbelievable is that after phoning up several people to find somebody who actually knows what they are talking about, to get your internet working, you then have to phone again for the TV.

When I moved it was actually easier to register with Swisscom ADSL, go to Media Markt, buy all equipment needed to setup sky and stand in my garden with a can of beer shouting "left a bit, right a bit" to my brother to get the free to air channels (following Mark's excellent instructions).

I now am in full control of my TV and more control of my internet connection and everything works, I am happy, I now wish Cablecom would realise I'm no longer a customer and stop sending me random letters.
